UCL Women’s Network: Empowering Women, Driving Change

The UCL Women’s Network is a vibrant and inclusive space for all self-defining women to come together, share experiences, and discuss issues around gender and its intersections with race, sexuality, disability, and more. Whether you're looking to engage in thought-provoking discussions, advocate for meaningful change, or connect with like-minded individuals, the Women’s Network is here to support you.

Recent Achievements

Over the past year, the Women’s Network has made significant strides in promoting gender equality and fostering safety on campus:

  • Expanded Free Period Products: Successfully advocated for sustainable menstrual products to be made freely available across all UCL buildings.
  • 16 Days of Activism: Organised awareness campaigns and staff training to combat sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).
  • Empowered Students Through Action: Held over 10 activism fundraisers and workshops.
  • Advocated for Women’s Rights: Engaged in daily meetings with UCL to defend student rights and ensure rapid interventions.
  • Represented UCL Globally: Partnered with UN Women’s UK to amplify the community’s priorities on a global platform.

Current Initiatives

This year, the Women's Network focusses its activities on three key areas:

1. Career

  • Workshops: Developing soft skills and practising networking in a supportive environment.
  • Speaker Series: Amplifying marginalised voices and celebrating diversity through engaging talks and events.

2. Community

  • Intersectional Collaborations: Partnering with other networks to champion intersectionality through joint events and initiatives. Our events include creative art expression, discussions, socials and drop-ins.
  • Women's Healthcare Discussions: Hosting events to open up conversations around women's health and wellbeing.

3. Care

  • Period Product Access: Working on Project Period to increase the availability of free menstrual products in gender-neutral locations across campus.
  •  Policy Reform: Lobbying UCL to recognise period pain as valid grounds for Extenuating Circumstances.
  • Charity Fundraisers: Raising funds for organisations working to expand access to sanitary products.
  • Campus Safety: Collaborating with UCL Estates to improve campus lighting and ensure safer journeys at night.

The Women’s Network is committed to fostering empowerment, safety, and equality for all UCL students. Join us to drive change and create a campus where every woman feels valued, respected, and supported. Together, we can build a brighter future.
