FAQs:

What classes do you offer?

We offer pole, aerial hoop, and aerial silks! Classes are split by level, from absolute beginner all the way to advanced. In addition to syllabus based classes,  we also offer mixed ability classes such as spinning pole, heels workshops, low flow choreography, and stretching workshops.

What level am I?

Please check out our handy guide attached: [link to be added]. Kindly ensure you only sign up to classes within your skill level - this will not only ensure your safety but also help you get the most out of your time with the club.

Will you be running taster sessions?

Of course - taster sessions will be running throughout freshers week and the week after. A complete timetable will be uploaded closer to the start of term. Follow @uclpolefitness on Instagram for updates, and subscribe to our mailing list.

What do I wear to class? Do I need to prepare anything?

Pole:

  • Wear clothes that allow for skin grip - such as a sports bra and shorts (or trousers you can roll up). For most moves you will require contact against the pole with your arms, knee pits, shins and inner thighs. Friction is how you stay on the pole!
  • Avoid using moisturiser before poling. You will find it very hard to hold on and will most likely slide right off the pole :(
  • No jewellery on the pole - especially rings. This will scratch and damage the poles.

Aerial:

  • Wear tight-fitting, comfortable, and stretchy clothing - such as a t shirt and leggings. You will not require much skin contact for aerial sports.

Stay hydrated! Bring a water bottle with you to practice. There are many water bottle refill stations around UCL, the nearest one to the studio is on the Lower Ground floor of the George Farha Cafe.

Will I get to pole outside of class time?

We offer open practice sessions every week. Open practice is free for all club members, and provides a chance for you to practice moves you've learnt in class. Please ensure you are properly warmed up before going on the pole!

All open practices will be supervised by at least one first-aid trained committee member, but please avoid tricks that you are not comfortable doing. OP is also a shared session, so don't be a pole hog! Be supportive and kind, and refrain from any comments on people's bodies. We are all human. <3
