Looking for things to do in London this summer? Why not try out volunteering!

Summer is a great time to get involved in something new. Organisations run plenty of flexible opportunities, like festivals, environmental activities, fundraising events and kids’ holiday camps. These short-term or one-off roles are a great way to get involved and see if volunteering is something that works for you!

Make sure to check out Summer Volunteering Directory, and check out some of the opportunities below!

Discover, explore and upskill in an afternoon of crafting and events with us at UCL East! Join us on Thursday 20 June to relax, enjoy a free lunch in the stunning atrium space in the new Marshgate building and book on our free events through the afternoon to take a break from study.  Students' Union UCL in collaboration with colleagues from Student Support and Wellbeing Services are putting an afternoon of activities together. Choose to get involved in our walking tour of the Olympic Park, chat to us over crafting about your volunteering experience and interests, book a space at our free rooftop yoga session and find out how to showcase your skills in a professional context at our careers workshop.  Sign up today to be the first to receive booking links when live so you don't miss out.

Summer is a perfect time to try out volunteering through one-off, short term opportunities. If you're looking for a way to help the community through flexible volunteering with a low time commitment, why not sign up as a event marshal for the London Legal Walk on 18th June? Or join Little Village at one of their many one-off days at the Pick & Pack Baby Bank, where you can sort and organise pre-loved items, destined to become beautiful bundles for local families.

If you're interested in working with children and young people, make sure to check out the many opportunities to get involved in summer camps and events. Trapped In Zone One CIC is looking for volunteers to join their Summer Holiday Youth Programme,  designed to provide creative and sporting activities for young people during the school holidays. And make sure to check out The Rugby Portobello Trust, where you could become a Summer Play Volunteer and help deliver a full day of fun for over 100 children and young people!

In the mood for a summer festival? Why not become a part of Engineering history and volunteer as a Festival Ambassador at UCL’s amazing Festival of Engineering from 15th - 20th July! Or if you're looking for some more volunteering right on UCL's doorstep, make sure to join the Bloomsbury Festival between 18th - 27th October and support an event that draws together A.I. and medicine, to philosophy and kindness, and everything in between.

Maybe you’d just like to get outside and enjoy the summer weather. Gardening is a great way to get your hands dirty and help out the community. Cody Dock is recruiting gardening volunteers to help them grow fresh produce to share with the community. Or why not help maintain the historic 13 acre garden at London's Fulham Palace. (They're also recruiting volunteers to help take care of their beehives!)

And if you’d like some pointers to help find your perfect summer volunteering opportunity, feel free to drop us a line.
