Two of our Student-Led Projects have partnered up for a second year with One Housing Group to deliver workshops focused on art (Art Without a Home) and photography (Double Exposure) for people who have been affected by homelessness. Both projects provide individuals, who have experienced homelessness, with a creative outlet; a form of self-expression to empower themselves and support their well-being. Unfortunately, these workshops had to be stopped due to the current Covid-19 situation.
However, the Project Leaders still decided to continue with their respective projects remotely and adapted accordingly. They worked together to create an online exhibition called Unleashing Potential, showcasing the collection of photos and artwork that their beneficiaries created throughout the year. When asked how they found delivering the exhibition online, the Project Leaders said "We are glad that we can still present the work our participants have accomplished. In the meantime, the exhibition was important for us too. We wanted to create not only a safe space for creativity, but also a bridge between our participants and the wider London community."
The determination of both Double Exposure and Art without Home to still celebrate the work that the participants did is a wonderful example of how to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances. Take a look at the amazing work that has been created by the participants and see for yourself!
