I'll bring approachable and effective leadership and active communication from my time as VP of my high school's Student Union and leader of several clubs. My degree in politics and sociology and negotiation skills attained from my MUN experiences equip me with teamwork, problem-solving, and organisational skills to address POC students' needs effectively and be aware to stand firmly to advocate for their interests. With my experiences of internships in education and starting up a study abroad company, I also possess skills in organizing resources and teams.
If elected, I will focus on enhancing the cooperation of the POC students' societies by organising more events between them, raising awareness of the Union’s welfare campaigns and ensuring they are tailored to the specific needs of POC. I aim to work closely with other Welfare Officers to coordinate efforts that promote funding to mental health resources, financial, and career resources, to reduce the waiting time. I will also advocate for the increased visibility of Union resources through events and online to ensure that all are informed and supported.
I’m vote-worthy because I understand the unique challenges faced by POC students such as career opportunities and inculturation. I am committed to making their university experience more positive and inclusive. My leadership experience, communication and organization skills make me well-suited for this role. Since I am a doer, not just a talker, I will continue to work hard to ensure that POC students feel heard, supported, and represented in all aspects of student life, actively collaborating with other Welfare Officers to drive meaningful change.
I have organized many activities with school members in the past, and I personally think I have enough social skills to keep the network alive and thriving. I also think that hosting such a community will help everyone get to know each other not just on individual level, but also on cultural level. Also I think that I can help people blend in with the rest of the community better.
I guess I will try to make the community more of a whole community and an active one. Personally I love talent shows and I organized many talent shows, so I guess I will do me best to try organizing more talent shows whether it is public (shown to the whole school) or limited to our community based on how everyone what’s it.
I am outgoing, inclusive, and supportive to people around me, so I will try me best to not let you feel excluded from the community. And I have many experiences of organizing all sorts of events, so our community will be fun and interesting. I am also very interested in other cultures, so I would love to hear your stories!
I bring strong organizational and communication skills developed through my experiences as a Business Adviser and volunteer teacher. My commitment to diversity and inclusion drives me to create a welcoming environment for POC students. I am passionate about fostering community engagement and ensuring all voices are represented in decision-making processes. Additionally, my empathy and ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds enable me to plan impactful events that celebrate our cultural diversity and address the unique challenges faced by POC students at UCL.
