Seth D. Harris (he/him)
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE VOTE FOR ME I AM ON ALL FOURS BEGGING YOU

For too long Juggling and Circus Society has been opressed by the Student's Union.  But the tide is turning and you have the chance to elect a real clown who will abuse their power to opress the SU.

It is important that student trustees remain impartial. If elected, I will embody the spirit of UCL and remain as morally inconsistent as Keir Starmer when asked about the government's attacks on the trans community.  I totally will not use my position to further my own agenda and promise to never embezzle student union funding (again).

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

As treasurer of juggling and circus society i have plenty of experience of handling tight budgets (we have no money, please buy a membership).

Also in my time as an intern in the civil service, I learned to go along with things I do not understand or agree with.  This is important because the Student's Union is a bureaucratic mess and none of their decisions make any sense.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

It would be really funny to have a Juggling and Circus guy on the board of trustees.

Shreya Kantamneni (She/Her)
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I wholeheartedly believe that the beauty of UCL is truly highlighted by the wonderful talent, unique ideas and kind nature of all the students. Therefore, as a student trustee, I will ensure that all your ideas, concerns and expectations are prioritised, to create an even more positive, safe and enjoyable learning environment within UCL. The fantastic tapestry of diversity that UCL proudly represents is truly amazing and I am very keen to find out (from all of you) about how we can integrate more facilities to support and motivate all students further (both online and on-site).

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I am an extremely friendly and caring person. I always like to make people smile and helping others is truly the positive energy that I thrive on. Previously, I have led my school’s charities committee where I have actively organised and participated in numerous cake/ handmade badge sales as well as designing fun GIFs to showcase events. I also enjoy mentoring and tutoring younger children on a regular basis. These experiences have built my passion to commit to helping people and volunteering as much as possible.Hence, I am excited to collaborate with all UCL students and the board of trustees.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Hi, I’m Shreya Kantamneni (UCL Medical student).

I am looking forward to the exciting prospect of representing your views and presenting them throughly to the board of trustees.Ultimately,I will always be there to listen, respond to and deliver on all of the feedback that is provided to me, with a growth mindset. I wholeheartedly believe that the beauty of UCL is truly highlighted by the wonderful talent, unique ideas and kind nature of all the students.Hence, as a student trustee, I will strive to create an even more positive, safe and enjoyable learning environment for all.

Ken Sio (he/him)
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

Being a Trustee, I will be dedicated to the Union and make decisions with integrity. Through this platform, I hope to:

  • Increase transparency and accountability of Union actions
  • Offer a critical perspective on financial and budget issues
  • Ensure access to financial aid is readily available to students in need
  • Maintain a focus on all students' wellbeing and health and Union activities

Through these actions, I hope to provide clearer communication and support on current issues. I hope to influence the board and direct it to make the best decisions for our students. :))

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Through my experiences within and outside of UCL, I have developed the necessary qualities to make honest and selfless decisions.

  • Volunteering at a national charity has given me awareness of how charities operate and make sound initiatives
  • Through my role in the Active Bystander project, I have become sensitive to diverse perspectives and thoughts
  • As an Academic Rep, I have developed key communication skills to challenge key issues at UCL and student life

Importantly, I will work with empathy, resilience and persistence to get things done, to keep pushing, to better the Union!

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

With 50000+ students at UCL, I recognise the wide effects of decisions. As a queer POC from a low socioeconomic background, I see how the Union's provisions and communities are integral to ensuring UCL is a safe and welcoming environment. As such, I will challenge and question decisions so that students who need support are truly at the forefront. I am always open to hearing new perspectives, so with my own personal lens and your voice, we can guide the Union.

I hope my work can have a lasting impact, so I plan to lay groundwork and support future Trustees.

Grace
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

Being a student trustee will allow me to gain an in-depth insight into the operation of the student union, while enabling me to gain hands on experience on working within the school's system, including cooperating and collaborating with student reps from different departments within the student union; to enhance responsibilities through making bigger and legal decisions that serves the general interest of student union. And, most importantly, to develop leadership skills via supervising financial and structural stability of all societies.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I have always maintained good relationships by being able and willing to listen, negotiate, communicate and work with fellow students as well as colleagues in coffee shops, retail stores and other volunteers during the projects. This makes me a great team player and an accountable person. Being a social event director in my society also equipped me with excellent communication skills through reaching out to other societal committees in coordinating social events. Amongst all, I am responsible, selfless, and prioritize group decisions and always consider what are best for the general public.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I will ensure that the decisions made will serve the interests of all departments, societies&members within the student union in accordance to political policies. I will attempt to create an inclusive environment by incorporating and assimilating ideas of different parties within the student union; to enhance equality by giving voices to students on campus, to serve interests of the general public while ensuring financial and structural stability in the administration. Amongst all, to make student union not just an organization, but a friendly, inclusive and a sustainable student community.

Lola Wang (she/her)
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

In working together, I hope to create a more friendly UCL.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

My time as first year representative for my course had been especially rewarding. I really enjoyed collaborating with my peers and professors in shaping our academic journey and hope to bring the same optimism and experience to this role.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I don't believe fancy paragraphs of promises are convincing or trustworthy enough. I do not doubt my abilities, but I hope you vote who you want to vote for.

Carlos Rangel Outeda
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

My main goal would be the proper implementation of proposals sent by other committee:

  • Be a proponent for SU policies
  • Navigate fiscal & legal potential complications
  • Persistently advocate for the proposal to be kept as true to its original intent and purpose as possible

I aim to be a vocal member of the board of trustees, and not back down easily when faced with challenge or opposition.

However, the Board of Trustees is a diplomatic affair, and I aim to communicate effectively in order to incorporate SU policies with consensus, through constructive discussion.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I’ve been an avid public speaker and debater for six years, in debate clubs and MUN conferences. I discussed proposals and coordinated with admin during High School. Last year, I participated in meetings with UCL accommodation staff as a Hall Rep, and was a vocal member of Welfare & Community Zone sessions. Currently I’m part of two society committees - and have a direct stake in promoting SU policies.
Communication skills- I know when to use debate, and when to use diplomacy. Cooperation- I know the value of teamwork, and listening to those around you Confidence- I am unafraid to speak

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I take my responsibilities seriously, and I will make sure to be an active member of the Board of trustees.

I want to do my part in helping the SU, and as student trustee I can use both my problem solving skill set - to navigate fiscal/legal complications, and my communication skill set, to talk with the rest of the board, to push forwards polished policies, and help the SU to achieve it’s goals.

In sum: A committed, active, communicative member with experience in SU/UCL bureaucracy, ready to help polish and pass SU policies.

Sara Chemello (she/her)
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

As a student Trustee, I have three core objectives. Firstly, I'm dedicated to making informed, impartial decisions to secure UCL's SU's financial and legal stability, ensuring its long-term sustainability and operational resilience. Secondly, I aim to synchronize SU policies with the diverse needs and priorities of UCL's student community. Lastly, I'm committed to fostering transparency and accountability in my role, holding the Union responsible for actions that consistently serve the best interests of its members.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

My leadership experience within and beyond UCL, such as being VP of UCLIS (one of the largest UCL societies), combined with my professional experience in financial management, gained through multiple internships, equips me with the skills to make unbiased and informed decisions concerning the SU's financial health and strategic direction. As a Sustainability Ambassador, where I held the Philosophy Department accountable for their emissions, I've honed accountability and transparency skills which will help me ensure that the Union's actions are clear and prioritize its members' interests.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

My comprehensive skill set, unwavering commitment to the Seven Principles of Public Life and dedication to ensuring the long-term success of the UCL SU will enable me to fulfill the role of Trustee effectively. My demonstrated focus on financial stability, transparency, and accountability will contribute to the growth and sustainability of the SU whilst always putting students and their interests, needs and wellbeing first. Together, let's continue building a strong and student-focused Students' Union at UCL.

Nereus Tsang (he/him)
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

As a student trustee, I would be representing your views on the trustee board. By acting as the bridge of communication between you and the board, I hope to achieve the following:

  • Ensure the services provided by the student union are value for money for you.
  • Increase the transparency of the actions done by trustees, by communicating key changes implemented in student union via weekly emails.
  • Promote inclusivity by ensuring all student voices are adequately represented.
  • Reduce bureaucracy by enabling direct means of voicing your opinions, and monitoring the process via regular updates
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I have been an active part of the UCL communities in the past year. Some of my key experiences include:

  • Acting as an academic representative allowed me to relay concerns from students to module leads. I am equipped with the skills to implement changes.
  • As a transition mentor, I had the opportunity to shape freshers' experience by enabling them to find their community at UCL and foster better understanding between ethnic groups to promote diversity.
  • As a committee member of the UCL Photography Society, I learnt to increase student engagement and used various approaches to tackle issues.
Please summarise why students should vote for you.

My main priority is to ensure all student voices are represented when decisions are made. You would be involved in the process through direct means of voicing your concerns and opinions to trustees. It is through this collaborative process that would enable us to leave behind the student union that you envisioned, with strong structural and financial integrity

As a first-generation immigrant from Hong Kong, I pledge to provide a secure environment for the people of colour, the LGBTQ community and those from disadvantaged backgrounds, and ensure they are heard if I am elected.

Daya Singh (He/Him)
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

As a student trustee, I hope to ensure that the university life, for all students, is a positive environment in which they can excel irrespective of year of study. Funding plays a big aspect of that; by budgeting appropriately, and prioritising the direction of the funds responsibly, I feel that I can safeguard the union's status as a platform for students to experience the best of all student life. If I am elected, I hope to provide support to students with mental and physical health problems, and improve upon union facilities which are not suitable for students under different contexts.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Perhaps my greatest skill is my ability to think outside of the box when trying to work at a problem. I often ask many questions to ensure that every detail is ironed out, which often presents an error or oversight that may or may not have been spotted otherwise. My technical skills were put to use in the development of my blog, which I designed from scratch and maintain to this day. Furthermore, I have budgeted in the past for the committee at my sixth form and have more recently used my organisation skills as vice president of the ADM Society and Sketch Co-ordinator for the Comedy Society.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

In general I am a very down-to-earth person; I can empathise with people with all sorts of issues to do with the union, and a result am more able to work towards their people's needs more easily. I like to get a large sample of opinions too, which makes me more able to make decisions that help everyone, as opposed to just a select number of people. Furthermore, I often like to explore, and examine what other parts of UCL are like, as opposed to just areas within my faculty, widening my view of student life; hence I feel like this will make me a better candidate to represent the student body.

Thessabel Chang

Chen-Hao Tsai (He/him/his)
