I’m standing for the role of Events Officer as I want to assist my fellow non-law students in their journey into law. My vision is to transform the society into a more careers themed society, by facilitating meaningful and relevant events that help you stand out in applications.

My goal is to increase our focus on pro bono and volunteering opportunities. This will allow members to be better equipped when applying for law-related positions by demonstrating relevant experience. I aim to organise sessions that help applicants apply to legal charities or advocacy groups such as Support Through Court. Not only will this provide invaluable experience, but it will also help the community around us.

A key aspect of my campaign is to provide a specific workshop aimed at leveraging your non-law skills into law, which is your greatest differentiator. This will help you effectively articulate your unique strengths in cover letters and interviews. I believe this is necessary in an increasingly competitive landscape.

Finally, I will set up a mock negotiation event to help you develop skills such as compromise, and patience. Several law firms, such as Macfarlanes and Covington & Burling, have mock negotiations during their vacation schemes which you can master with practice.

While I’m trying to create a more robust careers focus, I’m also committed to maintaining our social events. Networking is just as important in its own regard.

Thank you for your time.

Omar Chunara
Lia Liu

Hi, I'm currently on my year abroad and I'm excited to return for my final year in ISPS, and excited to be a part of LfA again!

I'm running for Events Officer because LfA has always hosted wonderful events for everyone to gain experience and knowledge of the legal profession, and I hope to continue the good work. I believe I would fit the role well as I enjoy the planning, organisation, and other details that are essential in delivering a great event. In the next year, I want to focus on both connecting members with professionals in the industry and members with each other as students with similar interests and goals but coming from different background.

I'm personally interested in international law, so I would love to see more events in different sectors of law and collaborations with other academic and departmental societies. As non-law students we should engage our other interests with law. As Events Officer, I interested in doing socials like dinners and pub socials as well as events to learn about different careers in law and training in things required by these roles like commercial awareness and such.

I hope to see you all next year!

Yoonha Lee

Hi all!

I’m Yoonha, I study German and Russian, and I'm an aspiring solicitor in my penultimate year of study.

Having started my journey into law from scratch, and having attended some fantastic LfA events—from panels to networking sessions—I’ve seen how valuable they are in making the legal world more accessible. Now, I’d love to be part of the team that brings even more insightful and engaging events to you!

  • I’ve undertaken work experience at White & Case LLP, here I gained firsthand insight into commercial law in practice and the importance of networking and mentorship.
  • I was elected as a Student Academic Representative for two consecutive years, where I worked to represent student voices and improve academic experiences—skills that translate perfectly into organising events that truly benefit members.
  • Through many law firm interviews, I’ve gained a strong understanding of what firms look for in candidates and how you can best prepare for applications. I'll use this knowledge to organise events that provide real value to you.
  • I genuinely enjoy bringing people together and promise to create opportunities for students to explore law in an open, welcoming, and inclusive space. I know the legal journey can feel overwhelming at times, and I want to ensure our events provide useful guidance and support.

Whether you’re just starting to explore law or fully set on a legal career, I'll make sure there’s something for everyone. If that's what you're looking for, I'd love your support!

Akmar Rizvi

As a dedicated and ambitious History student with a strong interest in commercial law, I am standing as an Events Officer to leverage my experience in legal competitions, commercial awareness and social mobility initiatives to create engaging and impactful events for aspiring lawyers in the Law for All Society. Having won the BCL Criminal Law Essay Competition and recently participated in the CMS-UCL Commercial Awareness Competition, I have developed a keen understanding of the skills necessary to succeed in the legal profession and am eager to share this with my peers. Furthermore, my recent successful applications for first-year schemes at top law firms such as Macfarlanes has directly provided me with insight into what leading firms seek in candidates, knowledge I aim to translate into events that equip students with practical skills and networking opportunities. Through my strong organisational skills, evidenced through balancing academic success and part-time work in the past, makes me well-suited to coordinating events effectively. As an Events Officer, I would proactively seek to bring law firms and chambers to the doorstep of the Law for All Society, helping and aiding access to the legal profession for all.

Arthur Stephens

Hey everyone! I’m Arthur.

As a history undergraduate, I understand that breaking into the legal sector can be a challenging and at times, overwhelming prospect for non-law students. That’s why I’m running for Law for All Events Officer: to create opportunities that not only help you navigate your career successfully but also find a supportive community, that eases any concerns and empowers you.

Why Vote for Me?

Event Organisation Experience – I’ve organised innovative events for formal and informal occasions, including a charity football tournament that raised nearly £250.

Industry Links – As a Commercial Law Academy ambassador, I can leverage my network to expand LFA’s reach. I also have connections with the Law Society’s committee, seeking stronger collaborations.

Application Success & Career Support – Having secured a first-year scheme with a Silver Circle firm, I understand the commercial law application process well. I’ll provide targeted workshops on this, including on assessment centre exercises, like negotiation, and on interviews, introducing a ‘buddy’ interview system.

Commitment to Inclusivity – I know of commuter LFA members, so I will push for more virtual events to ensure everyone can participate, regardless of location or financial constraints. I will also, of course, ensure that Bar-focused events remain a key part of LFA and more Pro Bono initiatives are ran.

Thank you for your consideration!
