Danann McAleer

I have decided to run for events director because I want to be a part of a society that means so much to me. I have met great people through this society and met many of my friends. I only started MUN at university as it didn’t exist in my secondary school so due to my limited experience, I personally don’t feel it would be right for me to run for a position such as training officer. However, I have attended many of the events organised by the society, such as embassy visits and guest speaker events, and found them interesting and very enjoyable. I want to be involved in the organisation of more of these and add more fun socials throughout the year. I have experience in event organisation and running, such as a face painting activity in a fundraiser at my secondary school, open nights to prospective students, and camp wide evening activities and camping trips at an American Summer camp. I have also had extensive practice of interpersonal skills and communication development throughout the last few years, a skill I believe is very important for the role of events director.

Alexander Anderson

Hi everyone!

My name is Alexander and I'm a first year student of French and Spanish. Even though I'm not studying politics or IR, I have a passion for MUN that started in high school/sixth form, where I founded the MUN club.

I was impressed by the amazing events that took place this past year, and I want to make sure that next year will be even more exciting and engaging for all members.

That's why I'm applying for the position of Events Director. I have a lot of experience in event management, as I'm the President of the London Culture Society. I have organised more than 15 events, ranging from musicals to a trip to Parliament, and I have successfully collaborated with other societies and venues to get the best deals for our members.

This means that I have extensive experience in organising events as well as communicating with venues to ensure our events will be a success

I believe I have the skills and the enthusiasm to plan and execute events that will appeal to everyone's interests!

Hope to see you all at Hustings and get your support!

Danna Tan

Hi I'm Danna and I would like to run for Events Director! :)

Here are some of my experiences:

MUN: I have attended numerous conferences, and almost all training sessions on Tuesdays. I will be attending more conferences, and I am committed to the UNA society and its affairs.

Events Organising: Founder and organiser of an inter-school business competition in high school, making me not unfamiliar to reaching out to different people or organisations, or sending emails of invitations for any sort of purposes (inviting speakers/judges/other schools, advertisement, etc.). I also have experience in organising school trips to autism centres to interact with autistic children.

Having participated in the society and conferences in the past year, I noticed these points that I would like to develop:

1. Insufficient Social Events for society members to mingle (e.g. society ball)

2. Lack of voting on preference of speaker events

3. Insufficient intercollegiate sessions

Thus, here are a few pledges I make that I would fulfill within my capacity as Events Director:

1. Organise annual/term society ball

2. Hold more socials that collaborate with other societies (e.g. events like UNA sports)

3. Provide more options for possible speaker events and host the most popular option

4. Work with the President to develop more intercollegiate events, not limited to intercollegiate training sessions

I would love to have your vote of confidence 💪
