Aine Adlam

Hi, my name’s Aine and I am currently a first year student. I have had some of the most incredible opportunities through joining MT Soc in my first year at UCL and I want to be able to contribute to the society as your Social Sec next year.

Admittedly I’ve not been to many socials this year (scheduling conflicts, oops) but I have been involved in the cast of both a Blooms show and a small show which has allowed me to meet such an amazing community of theatre kids, and I want to ensure that every member of the society is able to meet each other, whether part of a show or not!

As your Social Sec, I aim to increase the number of social events that take place: for example, monthly quiz or karaoke nights. This year, I have really enjoyed attending theatre trips and I want to continue these next year, introducing the MT community to even more spectacular shows! I would also like to increase collaboration between artsUCL societies, organising trips for MT Society to attend productions from the rest of the talented community at UCL and organising regular intersociety socials. Another initiative I would like to take as Social Sec is to collaborate with MT societies at other universities, to create a network of passionate theatre kids, whether this means supporting them at their productions (and invite them to ours in return) or getting together for socials!

Thank you for taking the time to read my manifesto, it would be an honour to be on your committee next year <3

Cal Kinoshita

Hey everyone, my name is Cal and I’m running to be your Social Secretary!

As a fresher, I understand the importance of creating a welcoming environment for veterans and newcomers in the MT society. Having been in both a small show, Lift, and a Blooms show, The Producers, I know that it can be difficult to connect with people beyond your cast-mates. This makes it particularly challenging for people who haven’t gotten cast in a show to feel included. As social secretary, I want to host more socials so every member of MT society, whether they participate in shows or simply love theatre, can mingle and form a community. These socials would include open mic/karaoke nights, pub socials, picnics, watch parties, and any other ideas brought forward by society members (I love getting input)!

Another important aspect of being the social secretary is organizing MT society’s trips to West End shows. Given my experience working in professional environments, such as law firms and the San Francisco City Government, as well as planning a 300+ person Model UN conference in high school, I am confident that I have the necessary organisation and communication skills to secure partnerships with theatres.

I hope you trust me to make MT society super fun and welcoming next year!

Thank you,

Cal <3

Francesca Rattray

Hi! I am Francesca, a 2nd year Human Sciences student!

I have adored being in MT soc - both performing and being on a production team have created the most amazing experiences that have made my time at university. In a place as big as UCL, finding a community of people who are so talented and friendly has been wonderful to be a part of and is something that should be accessible to everyone. It can be quite intimidating to enter ArtsUCL, so through social events, I want to create an atmosphere that encourages new people to be involved in musical theatre, no matter their age or experience.

As your social secretary, I want to:

  • Organize a range of events - From theatre visits to inter-society socials such as themed karaoke and quiz nights, I want to provide opportunities to meet others and finally visit your must-see musicals (Hadestown pls)!
  • Bring new people to MT soc – Through organizing events for freshers to meet alongside taster sessions introducing returning students to MT.
  • Creative socials - In collaboration with other committee members, I would love to provide opportunities for those to collaborate on creating musical theatre pieces.
  • Production/Bidding Socials – As someone who is currently on a production team (come see Carrie!), I know how difficult it is to find other production members, so I want to provide better social opportunities to meet other budding directors/producers/musical directors and increase transparency around bidding.

Thanks for
