Welcome to UCL’s award winning Musical Theatre Society!

We place inclusivity and the development of the individual at our core, and a passion for musical theatre regardless of ability. We prioritise the interests and well-being of our members above all, offering a wide variety of vibrant and exciting opportunities that help to develop skills and create long lasting friendships. So whether you want to perform, direct, conduct or design (and many more), we have something for you.

Each academic year we put on shows in a variety of musical theatre genres, usually two large-scale productions and a multitude of smaller shows. This last academic year, Musical Theatre Society put on excellent performances of 'American Idiot' and 'Legally Blonde' in the Bloomsbury Theatre alongside 'Title of Show' and 'Dogfight' as our smaller productions. The current global situation may have caused some changes to our in-person activities, but we can reassure members that we are carrying on providing top quality activities and opportunities, both online and in-person. Term 1 promises to be very eventful with the continuation of our non-auditioned choir and our ever-popular socials; from quizzes and baking competitions, to scavenger hunts and karaoke. We are excited to introduce regular dance fitness classes and a non-auditioned band for all our musicians who love show tunes!

Our workshops explore all aspects of musical theatre, from singing and dancing masterclasses for our budding performers, to production team workshops for our keen conductors and directors. We also foster strong relationships with other Arts societies at UCL such as Jazz, Live Music and Stage Crew and engage in a wide variety of activities with them.

Aside from workshops, the society also runs open mic nights, revues, volunteering projects, socials galore, trips to the West End, one-off events, and masterclasses with industry professionals.
