Joseph Wood

I am keen to support the society through heading the Research team. Each year, a group of aspiring writers joins the society as ESG Researchers, helping forward ideas and discussions related to the current status of global ESG-associated issues.

I have joined the Society as a Researcher and have since written two articles; one on the redevelopment of New York's airports and the environmental and social impacts of large-scale infrastructure projects, assessing the stakeholders and decision-making. My other article focalises the transition of airlines to be more sustainable. I have enjoyed personally being a team, and have enjoyed working with the current Head of Research, Ingrid, and current President, Patricia.

I would ensure Researchers are well-supported and committed. I understand how challenging it can be to produce high quality articles alongside university coursework and revision, so I can see how Researchers may seek support to fulfil a commitment. In my Head of Events roles in Geogsoc and Diplomacy Soc, I have developed management and organisational skills.

I have recently founded a publication, not dissimilar to this one, and have recruited and overseen over twenty peers in various roles and edited multiple submissions, so I am keen to bring these skills to a role where I am also able to contribute in a positive way to a society I know has taken a lot of energy and effort to make successful.

Therefore, I believe I am a suitable candidate for this role.

Ingrid Chan

Hi, my name is Ingrid Chan, and I am a penultimate Social and Political Studies student. I am the current Head of Research of the ESG society, and I would love to continue serving in this role and promoting stronger awareness towards ESG.

My experience has equipped me with the necessary skills to oversee and run the journal, such as organisation and time-management skills, as well as the ability to choose editors and delegate tasks efficiently. Alongside my role as the editor-in-chief of the EISPS Society Journal, this role has honed my editing and writing skills, while helping me develop leadership and negotiation skills. I believe that I can continue to contribute towards and expand the journal, as I am very creative and open to new ideas.

In the coming year, I hope to:

  • Integrate the journal within the society (e.g. articles relating to events)
  • Expand the journal’s reach (e.g. via Linkedin, collaboration with other society journals)
  • Conduct more interviews
  • Focus on more career-oriented articles/advice columns
  • Create more opportunities for audience input/guest articles
  • Promote socials for editors and writers

I hope you vote for me as the Head of Research and thank you for your time and consideration!
