Jesmean Kaur

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

I am Jesmean Kaur, and I am excited to announce my candidacy for Interfaith Officer. I am a first-year undergraduate studying Politics and International Relations and a First-Year Representative for Sikh Society.

As an Interfaith Officer, I look forward to collaborating with Sikh organizations, such as Basics of Sikhi, Nishaan, and UCL Interfaith, to promote religious harmony and dialogue. One of my primary goals is to organize educational events and discussions about Sikhism to increase awareness and understanding, breaking down stereotypes along the way.

I am also excited to work with UCL Interfaith to establish links with other societies and contribute to removing religious discrimination on campus. This initiative is critical, and I believe that by working together, we can achieve meaningful change and create a more inclusive community.

I understand the importance of events like Kirtan Darbar and Langar on Campus for the Sikh Society, and I am willing to take on the responsibility of planning these events to ensure their success and provide opportunities for our members to practice their faith.

As an open-minded individual, I am confident in my ability to liaise with organizations outside of UCL to create partnerships that will benefit the Sikh Society and its members. If elected, I promise to work tirelessly to create an inclusive community that celebrates diversity and promotes understanding.

Sid Charaschanya

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

Hi all, my name is Sid.

As a religious and interfaith officer, I hope to foster collaboration between universities by holding events that bring us closer to our Guru. Primarily, this entails continuing to hold Kirtan Darbars, Gurdwara visits, and similar religiously-oriented events.

Having attended the Y.1 Sikh Studies course run by the Sikh Education Council (SEC), I have gotten to know more about their members (e.g., Harwinder Singh) and initiatives. I aim to meet with the SEC and discuss how they might be able to help the UCL Sikh Society.

Given my experience as Lead Department Representative, I believe I can bring the motivation and communication skills necessary to excel as a religious and interfaith officer.

I look forward to contributing to another great year for the UCL Sikh Society!
