I want to be the Rugby Club President because ever since starting uni, the rugby club has been a huge part of my life and I believe the committee has been integral to its success. Since joining, I have been met by nothing but great people, an open culture and constant entertainment and I want to be part of continuing this legacy for future generations of UCL rugby men’s players.

Rugby at UCL, is progressively thinking, responsibly led and has a culture that breeds positivity and I believe huge credit must be given to previous members of the committee as well as general members. The people make the club, and to be president of this and to oversee this clubs recovery and progression would be both and honour and privilege.

Rugby as a sport is one of the few that boasts a culture of comradery, a culture where positivity and respect is contagious, and a culture where we have and always will meet lifelong friends. For me, It has been a pleasure to meet all of you this year, and furthermore I feel proud to call many of you mates. Therefore, I truly believe this club has the characters needed to keep pushing Rugby onwards and upwards. Let me lead it forward.

Philip E Bauer

I am standing for Prez as I believe I am the perfect candidate. My aim for the club would be to provide a community where freshers can join to play a high standard of rugby with an equally high standard of socials. If there has ever been any question about my qualifications or capabilities I would like to bring forward my stellar social attendance as well my commitment to training and matches. My aim as Prez would be to increase training opportunities and build a better relationship with the student union and other societies, in an attempt to branch out the club. I see Rugby as a community and I would want others to see it in the same light but also provide a community where new members can easily join, which is accessible to everyone.

Furthermore, I would like to increase the amount of consistent training we do by finding a pitch we can use as and when we need.

I have turned up to every training session and compensated this by drinking enough over the year to kill a whale. My social attendance has built me into the perfect candidate. Having been attacked with chopping, has broken me down into a shell of a man, only to be built back up to a prominent candidate. Furthermore, my scala attendance has been nothing short of incredible along with my continuous commitment to the wkd chop.

I believe that my ability to scare people away with my atrocious chat and my unwavering loyalty to the club would make me the best fit to be prez.

Up the club,

Phil Bauer

Tom L Poulton

The importance of the Presidency has been deeply impressed upon me this year and, building on what has been achieved by the committee incumbent, I would hope to accelerate the Club's upwards trajectory. The sense of community I derive from the Club has been foundational in my university experience and is something I am keen to foster for others next year.

I regard myself as highly suited to the role of spokesperson for the club. I have experience in working alongside the student union having been involved in the set-up of a prospective ski racing club. I believe I can speak with clarity on behalf of the club, thereby implementing changes effectively.

I will focus on realising progress in the playing side of affairs. I believe we can be most rewarding and attractive as a society with a high level of play and results, whilst preserving the special social bond and values of respect unique to rugby. With the ultimate goal of achieving participation in UCL's 'High Performance Scheme', I would like to prioritise three advancements:

  • An increased number of contact hours with coaching staff
  • A realistic increase in the number of sessions per week
  • Greater inclusion in SU organisation of playing arrangements.

The club exemplifies commitment, but I will be steadfast in holding members accountable to the standards we have set. I will readily delegate tasks and ensure everyone’s involvement in what we do.

I would be honoured to represent and champion UCL Men's Rugby next year.
