Khalifa Hussain

As an active member, my experiences with the people and the society as a whole have propelled me to take on a larger role. My experiences with volunteering enabled me to understand the importance of fundraising and spreading the word and having generated revenue for Oxfam and taking on more students for Explore Learning (a tutoring company) by joining them on days where they have to go out and promote, I believe I have the skill set needed for this role. Additionally, the friendships and contacts I have made during my first terms at UCL I think would be invaluable to the society (DesiBeatz) in terms of spreading awareness about the events we will be holding - an asset that will not only promote what we do but bring on more members. By working closely with the contacts I have already made relationships can be further maintained for the society for the coming years which is instrumental for the society.

I am organised, committed and have great interpersonal skills all of which i think would be needed for the role of sales officer.

Hayden R S Boora

As an active member and first year representative of punjabi society I am looking to take a bigger role for next year's committee. Having been head boy of my secondary school I often was involved in many fundraising tasks for both charities and our prom. From doing samosa sales to holding sports events I know I am equipped with the skill set to take on this role and will continue to raise funds in new, innovative and successful ways for punjabi society.

The friends and connections I made in term 1 will also be an invaluable asset to the society (desibeatz).

Anmol Singh

I'm in a lot of groupchats. I already promote a lot of stuff and can convince people to come to our events. Ive been to all the events, people know me and im good at making people come to stuff. Vote for me.

Jazneek Kaur

Hey, I’m Jazneek a first-year econ student running for sales officer! Being brought up in the most desi Punjabi family and having done Punjabi A-Level, I’d thrive in the culture shared by the committee.

One of my main strengths is communication – the way I articulate myself is clear and put-together. Having worked in retail for 3 years, I know how to liaise and negotiate in a polite yet straightforward manner. Compared to *difficult* customers I’ve encountered, contacting sponsors should be lightwork.

Also, as an econ student, I understand the value of profit maximisation,  thus methods of maximising revenue will be the driving force of any actions I take. By doing so, I hope to increase budgets and the number of events that occur to further expand the society and its presence within UCL.

Alongside this, having secured an internship with Bank of America, I feel my ability to sell myself further proves that I am a worthy candidate, capable of promoting Punjabi soc to elite sponsors next year.

Having also been enrolled into basically every sport, I have learnt the value of working with and organising a team, hence am equipped to work alongside the marketing team to together create a prosperous society.

All seriousness aside, I’d love to be part of the society and help it grow further next year. Being Punjabi is practically my no.1 personality trait and you’ll probs catch me belting out No Love at any event, because let’s be real, it’s played at every. single. event.

Jobenjeet Singh Mehroke

My name is Jobenjeet Mehroke, and I am proud to be standing for the role of ‘Sales Officer’ for our Punjabi Society. In my previous job roles and life experience, I have worked across sales, communicating with consumers and potential stakeholders, and I hope to bring that skill set to this role to help enrich our society, ensuring it continues to prosper. As an ‘East Midlands Punjabi’, I enjoy being part of a Punjabi community away from home and would relish this opportunity to be on the committee and bring my vast skillset to the table. Ultimately, as someone who cares deeply about Punjabi Society and the effect it has on the community, I hope I can help as a Sales Officer with the leadership team to develop even better methods to lay the foundations for the continued success of our Punjabi Society.

Kevin Gulati

As the current vice president of the UCL Punjabi Society and Sales and Marketing officer for UCL Hindu Society, I am excited to apply for the Marketing Officer position for this society. My passion for sales and marketing, combined with my knowledge of Punjabi culture and community, makes me a perfect candidate for this role.

My experience as the Vice President this year has provided me with valuable insights into the needs and interests of the Punjabi community at UCL. During this time, I helped organised various cultural and social events that were well received by the members of the society. As the Sales and Marketing Officer for the UCL Hindu Society, I was able to further hone my marketing skills by developing and implementing effective promotional strategies for various events.

I am committed to promoting the rich Punjabi culture and heritage at UCL and beyond. I believe that my experience, passion, and dedication make me the ideal candidate for the Marketing Officer position. If given the opportunity, I will work tirelessly to ensure that the Punjabi Society is well represented and that its events are well attended.
