Yi Xin Lee

I am standing to be Vice President of Mentorship as I hope to build stronger bridges between alumni and current students. As someone who participated in the mentorship program before, I understand the value good mentors can have in kick-starting a consulting career. As it is an extremely competitive industry, I found the advice I was given invaluable. Having participated in various consulting programs including firms like Strategy&, BCG and Accenture, I understand the barriers individuals face when breaking into the consulting industry for the first time. Thus, I hope to shape the mentorship program in a way that increases accessibility and helps build stronger relationships.

Through collaboration, I believe we can successfully continue the innovative mentorship programmes. This would include building a mentorship programme with greater diversity, encouraging mentor-mentee social dinners and establishing case study practice groups with mentors. As such, we will be able to capitalise on our mentors’ strong skillsets.

Leadership-wise, I have served as the Vice President of the Association of British and Chinese University Students (ABACUS). Hence, I know how to manage the logistics behind a successful event and a “family” system connecting older students to incoming freshers.

Finally, I hope to continuously improve the mentorship system by encouraging a truly interactive platform, building on feedback from our members.

Thank you and please vote Yi Xin for VP of Mentorship!

Serra Incekara

Hello everyone!

I am Serra Incekara, a first-year Environmental Geoscience student and I am running for the Consulting Society’s VP for Mentorship position.

Having been involved in numerous events organised by UCLCS, I have a great grasp of all of the valuable skills that this society can provide. I want to connect future consultants at UCL with current ones so that they can learn the vital details of this career. I believe that insider information from people in the industry is invaluable.

Organising events is no easy feat, however, an experienced team of executives can adapt to even the most abrupt changes. I have 2 years of experience in event organisation, with the largest one being an 800-person Model United Nations conference. I am quick to react to crises, great at outreach, and able to understand the strengths and weaknesses of each person in my team.

Here are some of the things I will (hopefully) do:

  • match mentees with mentors based on their goals
  • reach out to consultants from diverse fields and at different stages in their careers
  • collaborate with other societies to get specific insight into different sectors
  • get feedback from members on areas to improve on

I started out my journey at the start of Term 1 without any knowledge of consulting and ended up learning so much. As VP of Mentorship, I would love to help members reach their highest potential and connect them with UCL alumni who have been in their shoes.

Thank you for your time :)

Serra

Maria-Cristina Ardelean

Are you ready to build your future career with the help of the UCL Consulting Society? As a candidate for VP of Mentorship, I am eager to help members connect with industry experts and explore the countless opportunities in consulting.

My PhD journey has taught me the incredible value of having a mentor. As a UCLCS member, I've had the chance to meet consultants at different career stages and have great conversations, which helped me gain insights into consulting and hone my communication skills. With my experience in managing multiple responsibilities, such as my thesis project, a consulting client project, and delivering teaching support to over 300 students, I am confident in my organisational abilities to devise a successful mentoring program for you, the members of UCLCS.

As the VP of Mentorship, I will prioritise the following actions whilst keeping my options open for feedback:

1. Developing an understanding of the needs of UCLCS members in terms of mentorship and events focused on consulting insights.

2. Reach out to UCL alumni and higher-year students to participate in the mentorship programme and promote the programme to a diverse range of students.

3. Work alongside the External Relation Division to find inspiring speakers for our events that can provide an accurate and informative perspective of consulting.

4. Provide UCLCS members with tools to approach their mentors and get the most out of their informational interviews for future applications.
