Hi I'm Felix and for the last five years I've tried to be on committee as much as possible first as asst. boatswain, then boatswain, Men's senior captain and then this year as president. I'm trying to round it all off with a fifth year on committee as your VPs officer.
I love the club a lot if you haven't noticed my weird obsession yet and I'll do everything I can to embody your VPs officer. I love it so much I'll be rowing next year as well, meaning I'll always be around the boathouse and still be very much in touch with what the current club wants/needs.
Why vote for me?
- Years of experience dealing with the club and knowledge of how it's run/what to expect
- I never smile so you never have to worry about me getting distracted from my role by joking around
- I've got good experience of how the role runs as president having to oversee our lovely officers this year
MY GOALS! What do I want to do with the role?
- Make great VPs events and get our doctors/alumni back! they've been gone too long!
- Make more affordable VPs events in this cosie cri time of need
- Introduce other alumni events such as a boathouse to Chelsea bridge row in first term - paving the way for senior rowers to do such an outing
- Create a better alumni network through a more cohesive WhatsApp chat/Facebook group
- Start Alumni centred email chain and mailing list for future years to keep them all more in the loop
Next year will be my final in the club. For such a group that's given me everything, I'd love to have a last hurrah and give this club just a few more final celebrations before heading off. With me you can expect VPs events like none other, and regular alumni trips back... after all, I used to be in the current finalists' year, so I have the connections. With larger numbers of non-medics in the BC every year, I think it's especially important to keep in touch with those that have graduated. With the help of all the alumni, I'd also like to reintroduce the alumni fund to keep our costs down and events up, as much as possible.
My previous experience: as social sec I kept socials going even during an international pandemic; as UH captain I ferried aimless students around races and parties for fun; and as safety and welfare, physical and mental wellbeing are at the forefront of my job.
Do you want a club with great end-of-term dinners? Continued contact with our now-graduated friends? Someone qualified to manage socials, safety, and seventy-something students to a high degree of professionalism? Then I promise, I'm your guy. Nothing would make me prouder than to represent the Boat Club one last time, a swan song to the seven wonderful years I've spent as part of this truly exceptional club.
MIDDLE MIDDLE MIDDLE!
Hi everyone! My name is Rose (she/her) and I would love to be one of your VPs Officers next year!
I have been part of RUMSBC for 5 years now and have been the Social Secretary and Novice Women's Captain. I would love to be able to keep giving back to the club by organising the swankiest, coolest (cheapest?!) parties possible.
I would also like to explore ways to keep our alumni community more connected with the club and keep encouraging things such as alumni crews at Bumps and other races. Creating an engaged alumni group will allow us to fundraise more to keep investing in the club.
