Prasham Jadhwani

Hi! My name is Prasham Jadhwani and I’m running for Head of Events at UCL CSS.

Events are a definitive part of a society’s culture and are essentially opportunities where students can form lifelong friendships, make valuable connections and also receive invaluable career advice from industry professionals. The UCL Computer Science Society provided us with some of the most exciting and meaningful events this year and I believe I can take this one step further in the upcoming year.

As Head of Events, I would aim to provide students with multiple opportunities to enrich their learning and enhance their university experience through collaborative networking. In the upcoming year I would like to bring together a plethora of social events and career events by partnering with other societies within UCL and expanding our reach. With my experience as First Year Representative at the UCL Engineering Society, I believe I have the necessary leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills to expand the visibility of the society within UCL and across universities in the UK.

We have gone too long without a departmental society and I believe it is time we look to make the UCL CSS even more representative of the culture of learning, enrichment & experience that defines our department.

So vote for me if you have the same vision for the society as I do !

Jay Choy

Hi everyone, my name is Jay and I’ll be running for the head of events in the Computer Science Society. Being a first-year student, events and socials are the best part of being in a society – especially in CSS because we get to meet like-minded people and gain valuable connections. Personally, I’ve made a lot of amazing friends and met a lot of great people whilst attending CSS events. Hence, I want to continue providing this experience for future CSS members by planning more engaging and fun events within the society!

I believe CSS has the potential to become one of the most interesting societies in UCL that will attract students of non-computer science-related disciplines to join. If elected as the head of events, I will ensure that the events planned will be informatic and pique the interest of everyone.

As a first-year representative, I’ve been extensively involved in planning some of CSS and other societies' events, such as socials and hackathons. I believe that I have the experience and relevant skills to plan enjoyable and interesting events for everyone in CSS! I look forward to continuing my journey with CSS and planning future events for the society!

Pooja Chhaya

The students of Computer Science deserve a space to integrate with other students and build a supportive community, and I believe that as head of events it's crucial to create that space. The skills and qualifications I possess are a great match for the requirements for head of events. In particular, my communication and leadership skills make me a great candidate for the position. I believe it is also very important that first years are able to talk to other years as their advice can be invaluable and as head of events it would be your responsibility to bring together all the different years together to make fun and engaging activities for all students to do. As head of events, I can bring a friendly and approachable voice to the first years. Being a first year, I think it's really important to provide support for applications to internships and other career opportunities but also to have fun activities for first years to meet other years. I will bring a passionate and enthusiastic persona to the committee and will be able to communicate what kind of events first years would like to attend. I’m confident that I can bring success to this position and I would love the opportunity to learn more and develop my planning skills!

Aditya Parashar

What unites all of us at UCLCSS is our passion for Computer Science. As the Head of Events at UCLCSS, I am excited to work with the team in creating an all-rounded and inclusive community by holding fun and engaging events throughout the year. I will ensure that all of us bond together in ways that strengthen our aim of creating a community of like-minded people.

I organised several events as the Head Boy of my school including an international conference. I also spearheaded the organising committee of a fundraiser wherein an amount of £3000 was raised. These experiences helped me enhance my leadership and organisational skills, making me a good fit for the role of Head of Events.

The UCLCSS provided us with amazing events in the previous year, and I will continue the same using the following ideas:

  1. Conducting workshops where students can enhance their technical skills and social events where members will get to make valuable connections.
  2. Organising a Careers Week and inviting industry professionals for CV screening and conducting technical mock interviews for students.
  3. Raising funds through fundraising events such as releasing UCLCSS customised merchandise.

I will aim to make UCLCSS a collaborative learning space where one can find every type of support they need. If you see the future of this society as I do, vote for me!
