Business Society: Welfare Officer / Events Vice President

Hello, everyone! My name is Owen Chen, and I'm running for the position of Events Vice President and Welfare Officer at UCL Business Society as a first-year Management Science student. 

During my first year, I was a First-Year Representative in UCL Guild Society, which has a tight working relationship with UCL Business Society. I organised multiple events, such as the Alumni Panel Session and the First-Year Representative Guild Series in the span of four months. This demonstrates my ability and desire to inaugurate events that contribute to the betterment of our students. I also strive to host more in-person social activities as well as a series of mental health workshops to sustain the community's well-being. 

My main goal for next year is to provide our members with a greater outlook on a wide range of industries. Additionally, I hope to organise more activities that could improve career support for our students. Here are some activities you can expect me to facilitate: 

- Workshops geared towards improving one's CV, cover letter, interview performance.

- Launching a comprehensive online schedule that includes content from prior events and skills sessions

- Inviting distinguished speakers to host events that address the concerns of marginalised populations 

- Increase the number of events on entrepreneurship, venture capital, and private equity

Hello! I'm Miytesh and I'm running for Welfare Officer and Events VP. Having attended many Business Society events, I have had the opportunity to interact with the committee as well as my fellow members. The Business Society truly feels like a family and I would love to be a greater part of that. From my conversations with the committee, I have gained an insight into the requirements of this role and I believe I am best suited for it due to my previous experience and skills. In my first year, I balanced roles in two different societies at the same time which taught me how to manage time efficiently. This would enable me to prioritise both welfare and organising events at the same time.

My vision involves: 

-ensuring the continuation of flagship events such as the Non-Finance Orientation Day

-creating a survey for students to suggest events and give feedback to previous events. This ensures events are catered to our members' demands

-ensuring all online events are recorded and uploaded to a platform with other Business Society resources to ensure members that can't attend do not miss out

-organising more social events such as an alumni event giving members greater networking opportunities

-focusing on mental health and diversity in business and finance. Provide members with tips on maintaining a healthy work-life balance
