Hi! I am Leann, a First Year Executive in Business Society running for President.
My active involvement in the society this year includes helping out with DECA, Shark Tank, International Case Competition, and more! I particularly enjoyed moderating the panel at Impact Investment Challenge and organising the Non-Finance Orientation Day. These events motivated me to run for President as I witnessed how the society is a vital career springboard for students.
In the upcoming year, I strive to:
-
Engagement - I want to introduce more hands-on initiatives for our members to develop hard skills, eg Stock Pitch Competition, Code for Good, Asset & Wealth Management Challenge, etc.
-
Preparation - To allow members a head-start in their internship applications, I will hold CV, Cover Letter, interviews, industry-insight, technical skills workshops with professionals, with a google drive containing educational resources.
-
Expansion - As a diverse career society, I aim to hold events introducing less explored industries such as Start-Ups, Alternative Investments, Real Estate, Blockchain, Gaming, LegalTech etc.
-
Diversification - I strive to collaborate with other societies to bring together events such as office tours, increasing outreach for underrepresented communities.
By voting for me, I promise to make Business society an even stronger bridge between you and a plethora of career opportunities.
For me, as well as other students, Business society is a pathway prepared for them to walk on, to open up their career paths. I will provide students with more opportunities to meet up with experienced professionals from different fields and network with them to get to know more about their fields of interests. I will organize more events to make connections not just with professionals but also with our cohorts who might be your lifetime friends as well as business partners. I will also work with the preexisting connection between UCL business society and companies/managers/alumni to further expand the UCL business connection/network. In this way, I will increase the chances of students encountering the possible positions in internships (summer/spring) in the field where each student is aiming to join. Seminars and tutorials will be organized as well, to put UCL business society members in advantage when applying for their job. I will plan out and conduct new types of events for students to widen their opportunities in the future when they graduate UCL.
