I have loved playing for the 2s this year and feel that the experience has given me a good insight into how uclwb teams are run. With a variety of leadership experience under my belt (for example Head of Day girls at my secondary school) alongside playing in teams throughout my life (for example, basketball, dance, and x-country) I feel equipped to take on a captain role - following my ethos of leading 'from within'. In my opinion, the best captains should be both fully integrated in the team, and confident enough in their knowledge and capabilities to assert themselves in the group. As an enthusiastic and committed member of the 2s, with a good baseline knowledge of drills, plays etc. (having grown up playing basketball) I believe I would be a good fit. During my time as social sec I have further shown myself to be friendly and organised. These are important qualities for any captain, but particularly one who works so closely with a co-captain and coach. Together with them, I’d focus on developing not only the team at large, but each individual team player; in doing so, I think we’d be able to build upon the success we’ve had this year. Motivated by the enjoyment I’ve had playing in uclwb so far, and my drive towards team and club development, I’d love the opportunity to take the 2s to new heights!

Hello all! This past year has been more than what I expected, I joined our club to play the sport I love but found a family of sorts in the process too. I have witnessed everyone bettering their skills and improving their confidence with each practise, and have grown proud to call myself your teammate. Being a competitive person myself, I feel more than fulfilled whenever our team advances and builds its strength along with repairing its weaknesses. This is the spirit I would try to bring as your captain, a spirit of support and unrelenting encouragement. I like to think I have connected with you all in one way or another, and would be able to be a captain that is mindful, inclusive and open to different ideas. Taking on this responsibility would allow me to feel closer to our club and be able to bring some positive change hopefully in a committee position. I am a good public speaker with communication skills that can ensure great contact between all parties, and would more than gladly prioritise basketball matters to make time for our club. In this position I would aim to always be a neutral and fair person, as well as your biggest fan. As captain my aims are to make everyone feel sure of themselves, boost morale, and be a friend to you both on and off the court. I will push you to try and get to the best version of yourself, and strive to make everyone thrilled of their accomplishments whilst promoting a safe environment. Thank you and see you darlings at practise!
