RUMS Society: RUMS Vice-President (Raising and Giving)

Hello everyone!

I’m Nikita and I will be running to be your Raising and Giving (RAG) VP!

Raising and giving holds an immense importance in shaping a compassionate and flourishing RUMS. Together, we can channel our collective action and resources towards meaningful projects and initiatives that address pressing societal challenges.

So how can I help RUMS achieve this?

My goals:

• INCREASE GLOBAL AND LOCAL AWARENSS -

Relaunch RUMS RAG Instagram. Staying connected to the world around will keep us better informed about global and local issues. It will empower us to become active participants in creating meaningful change.

• UNFORGETTABLE CHARITY EVENTS -

Collaborate with the events team, to bring people together for a purpose and build a sense of community - the RUMS Bake off ;)

• SPORTING FOR CHANGE -

Each sports society, MDs and RUMS music should select a charity and raise money.  A prize will be given to the society that raises the most.

• CELEBRATING ACHEIVEMENTS -  

Proudly celebrate the incredible fundraising and volunteering accomplishments of RUMS students.

• VOLUNTEERING WITH HEART -

Collaborate with charities and promote volunteering opportunities within charities, allowing you to contribute your time and skills to make a positive impact.

oining together as a community to give back to those in need. We are lucky to attend such a prestigious university and as a collective, we could use this privilege to do some good.
 

I want to emphasise inclusivity with all our RUMS RAG events to make them appealing for a wide range of people. As RUMS Equity Officer, I have ample experience with this, for example, by working with the Events VP to make RUMS Take Me Out inclusive for all sexualities and gender identities.

I also want to introduce an exciting new event: RUMS Fashion Show. This will be a massive charity event where members of RUMS will bring out their catwalk prowess, showcasing fashion brands and delivering a show that will be talked about the whole year.

I will also be bringing back the ever popular RUMS at Regents for our lovely freshers where we will have loads of fun outdoor games with a pot for you to donate as much as you want, if you are able to, reducing pressure.

In terms of charities, I would love to raise money for the Anthony Nolan charity which we all know about and Save the Children but I am also open to suggestions from you all! I would love your support with this and can’t wait to deliver these exciting events!

I'm honoured to be running for VP of Raising and Giving. RUMS is brimming with brilliant minds and passionate hearts, and I promise to foster an environment of collaboration, inclusivity, and celebrate diverse ideas, to elevate RAGs to new heights.

My vision for RAGs encompasses four key pillars:

Awareness:
Raise awareness about the objectives and missions of RAGs, within RUMS and to the public by seeking guest speaking opportunities to increase engagement. Leverage social media platforms, build relationships with local media outlets and organise engaging events to showcase the abilities and talents of RUMS.

Collaboration:
Partner with local businesses to host fundraising events, reach out and work with leading charities and SPECTRUM to provide new opportunities; and hold bimonthly meetings to monitor progress.

Impact:
Develop clear, compelling missions, a comprehensive fundraising plan and means of measuring impact within the community.

Transparency:
Publish infographic videos of where all raised money goes, share success stories, and show gratitude to those who have contributed.

So why trust me? I'm dedicated to academic excellence and time management, learning to balance studies and extracurriculars effectively. I possess strong leadership through spearheading successful initiatives by motivating others. I will ensure that our efforts are focused, efficient, and transparent, instilling trust and confidence among our donors and beneficiaries of RAGS and RUMS.
