My aims:

  • Organising events + workshops to foster a vibrant dynamic professional confidence
  • Engagement to organise networking opportunities
  • Collaboration with other societies and channels to increase traction

My experiences in management + marketing:

  • Interning at a PR company
  • Student Ambassador in Sixth Form, representing the entire school + student body
  • Leadership + promotion in organisational work (UNESCO and LiNK)
    • Skills to guide + support our members in the ways they need

I hope to use my experience and enthusiasm to serve the Society and our members. I’m eager to work hard for the advancement of our Society and believe I’m the right candidate for the job because of my skills and experience in being an effective leader that advocates for our members.

Leona Dogra

Hi everyone! My name is Leona and I am running for Marketing Executive of UCLIS. I have been part of UCLIS since I first started at UCL in 2021, and have thus had the opportunity to interact with many members of this rich community. I am now motivated to take on a leadership position where I believe I can implement changes that would ameliorate this society. Through improved marketing strategies we can create and publicize amazing new events, in addition to furthering the UCLIS identity as a whole. I have a sincere passion for content creation which is reflected in my engagement across social media platforms and appreciation for all things aesthetic.

If elected I would:

  1. Create engaging visuals that market upcoming events

Work closely with the Events and Outreach team to plan and market these events.

Be both physical and digital (around campus and on UCLIS media platforms).

  1. Expand the UCLIS social media presence to attract new members.

Create a Tiktok and Twitter page to expand UCLIS media presence.

Derive current data trends to understand what forms of visuals are best received, and use this when planning new releases.

  1. Educate existing and new members on the role of finance in a manner that is easily accessible.

The world of finance can be extremely daunting to those with little knowledge; I would like to make it something that anyone can be a part of!

Promote links between finance and other industries (biotech, sustainable finance, political fields).

Shyam Patra

Having been a committed member of UCLIS for the past year, I have seen how the society can not only provide members with invaluable opportunities, but also foster their passion for finance and markets. As the marketing executive, my goal would be to increase the exposure of the society and enable as many students as possible to enjoy the benefits of our community.

To prioritise inclusivity, I aim to emphasise the accessibility of our society in our marketing strategy. Despite the complexities often associated with investing, our organisation provides a variety of beginner-friendly events. By promoting these, I anticipate a wider range of students will be drawn to join our community.

Secondly, I believe that there is considerable scope for the society to grow through utilising social media. Expanding the UCLIS brand to other platforms such as TikTok and Twitter will allow us to further increase the outreach and impact of our society.

Lastly, I believe collaborative promotion will greatly benefit the growth of the society. By partnering with adjacent societies, such as those part of UCL Guild, will allow us to leverage their networks and resources to reach a wider audience. This could take the form of cross-promotion on social media or hosting joint events.

As marketing executive, I would be fully dedicated to developing and implementing an effective marketing strategy to promote our community to a wider and more diverse audience.
