Mona Kitta

Hi! My name is Mona, a current second year student at UCL. Studying Population Health and Sciences has given me the opportunity to gain key knowledge on the effects of Climate Change on our health and well-being. I am passionated about making a positive impact on climate change as it has detrimental effects on our health. Therefore, I really do wish to contribute to this society as a first step to fight against the ongoing battle to better our planet.

Having been part of the CAS committee beforehand, I have organised events which has helped me gain valuable experience. If nominated as the Outreach and Collaboration Officer, I will ensure to do my best in planning fun, and collaborative events for the upcoming future!

Benjamin Hentschel

Hi everyone! My name is Benjamin, I’m a third year Economics students and would like to stand as an Outreach & Collaborations Director for the Climate Action Society. I think there is a huge amount of untapped potential in bringing together several UCL societies on campus for events, intersecting around the notions of environmental breakdown and necessary political and economic change. From debunking mainstream economic arguments to understanding ecological systems, a wholly interdisciplinary approach is required to further effective climate action at UCL and more widely, and I would consider running a mix of workshops and events on these principles.

I previous headed the events team in the UCL Economics Department, where I hosted large conferences and talks with leading academics, and subsequently am very familiar with the logistics and responsibilities that come with organising events, from drafting invites to having back-up questions for speakers at the end of their talks. I’d love to join the CAS committee and contribute my share to running interesting events on campus!

Emma Sinden

Over the last eight weeks of term I have been lucky enough to stand in as an interim events officer for CAS. This experience has given me an extremely thorough understanding of how CAS functions, how it relates to other external and internal organisations, and how events coordination plays a vital role in providing opportunities for our members and strengthening the impact of our activism.

During this time, I have helped to deliver three major events, including the freshers social, the student X staff art blocking session, and most notably our Climate Action Conference. I am proud to say that by working hard to recruit independent speakers and collaborating with organisers from other universities, I was able to significantly refine my skills at third party outreach to deliver a successful event.

Outside of CAS I have had the opportunity to develop my outreach skills even further. For two months this summer I liaised with international organisations whilst completing an internship, which demanded high levels of persistence, time management, and communication skills.

These experiences have taught me how to be effective in demanding outreach positions and how to efficiently organise collaborative events.

CAS is a passionate society of students with the ability to make a lasting impact. I firmly believe that as an Outreach and Collaborations Officer, I would be able to provide the best possible opportunities for all CAS members to take effective action we believe in.
