Candidates

Kaden Ross (He/Him)
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

If I elected to be the societies representative, I will work to bring together societies more, improving the interactions, events and even friendly competitions between societies. UCL’s student union provides a unique opportunity to bring people together from all sorts of backgrounds, with all sorts of interests. Hence, I plan to make the most of this opportunity by not only assisting societies in hosting events with one another, but also but also by creating platforms for collaboration, sharing resources, and exchanging ideas.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

like every other candidates applying to this position i’m an active member of many societies at UCL e.g. ANZ society, UCL entrepreneurship society, IDEA society, Footall team etc. What I think makes me special for this role apart from my communication and collaboration skills, is my leadership and initiative. I have had experience confounding and leading societies in my previous school, such as investment society and junior science service. I also co-founded a non-profit which helps raise money for university education in the Philippines.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Students should vote for me, not because of the leadership skills and initiative I have gained co-founding societies, charities and projects. Not because of how I am an already an active member of all kinds of UCL societies from football, to entrepreneurs society. But because I am entirely devoted to improving students experiences with societies. I will work with societies to not only improve the quality of events, but also to ensure that societies are working closely with one another to collaborate, sharing resources, events and ideas. Vote for me if you want to improve UCL societies today!

Kenny Xie

My mission is to initiate more projects in the society and ensuring maximum engagement. I aim to get to know everyone in my team and forge meaningful connections while staying focused on our projects' goal, which is to construct something that will change lives. I'll monitor progress while advising and encouraging my teammates, arranging socials to boost team chemistry. University's a tough journey, I want to build a community for all of us to lean on. Although this could be a challenge to me, I'm willing to push myself to unlock mine and everyone's true potential.

My gold & silver medals in ISIF and WSEEC research competitions proved my engineering capabilities. These experiences boosted my confidence in the research process and hence gives me a foundation on how to build projects with the utmost quality.

I'm also interested in a lot of topics so if you wanna just have a chat with me, I'm down for that as well.

Anyway, I'm pretty down to earth so don't be scared of me.

Brice Cheung (he/him)
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

Less society planning stress thoughts and litty vibes I'd love to enforce greater organisation and better quality-of-life experience for all societies!! <3

  • 'Snacks included' ≠ 'Crisps, a box of Celebrations, and an artichoke dip': budgeting isn't always in favour for smaller societies! Event costs shouldn't always be contingent on a society's popularity!!
  • Cheeky society mix and match: no need to try to re-invent the wheel every month 😁😁 more (good) chaos and less one-sided society beef
  • Streamlined events approval /srs: so there aren't 2:01AM WhatsApp announcements / 'figuring it out' sessions
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Tenacity, organisation, ambition, Red Bull 4 pack, Zyn, my Tesco employee discount...

  • My last Pharmacology lecture pre-reading skimming skills - I can break down what's realistic, what we can be hopeful for, and balance it out for tangible and meaningful changes - and I will show up... I'm not wasting all that reading for nothing...
  • My Geoguessr >4.5k streak - repping is about strategy, details, discernment!!
  • "My biggest weakness is my perfectionism..." -  no but I'm highkey obsessive over what I want to do: debates, music recitals, exhibitions, I always will push myself to present the very best
Please summarise why students should vote for you.

TLDR to the ones who couldn't be asked to read: please scroll up and read :(((

  • I'll always advocate for balanced funding, collaborations, streamlined organisation
  • I'm capable for this role because of my ability to balance things, my awareness, and my engagement

I can summarise my campaign in one sentence. Allow me to quote the wise words of Russian philosopher Yeltsa Kcir: "I'm never gonna give you up, never gonna give let you down" ♡♡♡

And if I win, I'll post a Katseye dance cover too but someone's gotta dance with me

Rustam Mukhamedjanov (he/him)

I aim to simplify communication, improve access to funding and space, and highlight smaller societies through cross-society showcases. My vision is to make campus feel like one vibrant ecosystem where every passion, culture, and voice finds its place.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I bring leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills shaped by my work across UCL societies and academic mentoring. As TEDx Treasurer and Welfare Officer, I managed budgets, supported members, and coordinated large events. My experience as a Transition Mentor taught me to listen and represent diverse student needs. Through tutoring and chef work, I developed organisation, creativity, and adaptability. With an engineering mindset and people-first approach, I will bring structure, collaboration, and genuine enthusiasm to strengthen every society.

Students should vote for me because I know how powerful societies can be when communication and collaboration flow naturally. I have seen first-hand how much effort committees invest, and I want to make that work easier and more connected. Jesse Ashdown (He/him)
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

We have TeamUCL and ArtsUCL, but we don’t have anything which unites and categorises the remaining societies.

I want to create a framework which unites non-arts and non-sports societies. I have already propositioned this at the last Activites and Engagement Zone.

My main goals/ideas are to:

  • Push for a system which makes collaboration across societies easier
  • Propose a grant for societies that want to collaborate in events
  • Set up arts competitions to fill up the empty walls in some places, and also hep artists showcase their work
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I am the president of Sci-Fi & Fantasy Society. We consistently host events in collaboration with many societies, and so I’m VERY used to all the processes and paperwork.

I attended Activities Zone as the only member of the public in attendance- I’m passionate about this even without being elected.

I’m extremely critical and have no qualms asking difficult questions, which I believe to be critical qualities to furthering change.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I already go to all the relevant Union meetings about societies and activities. I really do care about these things. The problem is, as a mere bystander, I’m not allowed to vote on any proposals, merely voice support in favor of societies. Furthermore my voice isn’t really respected since I’m “just a passerby”.

I’m not happy with the state of support societies get. And I’m not happy that I can only yap away at the problems, and have no real say or power in the matter.

That’s why you should vote for me- I’m passionate about this!
