Election post

Status
Elected
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

We have TeamUCL and ArtsUCL, but we don’t have anything which unites and categorises the remaining societies.

I want to create a framework which unites non-arts and non-sports societies. I have already propositioned this at the last Activites and Engagement Zone.

My main goals/ideas are to:

  • Push for a system which makes collaboration across societies easier
  • Propose a grant for societies that want to collaborate in events
  • Set up arts competitions to fill up the empty walls in some places, and also hep artists showcase their work
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I am the president of Sci-Fi & Fantasy Society. We consistently host events in collaboration with many societies, and so I’m VERY used to all the processes and paperwork.

I attended Activities Zone as the only member of the public in attendance- I’m passionate about this even without being elected.

I’m extremely critical and have no qualms asking difficult questions, which I believe to be critical qualities to furthering change.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I already go to all the relevant Union meetings about societies and activities. I really do care about these things. The problem is, as a mere bystander, I’m not allowed to vote on any proposals, merely voice support in favor of societies. Furthermore my voice isn’t really respected since I’m “just a passerby”.

I’m not happy with the state of support societies get. And I’m not happy that I can only yap away at the problems, and have no real say or power in the matter.

That’s why you should vote for me- I’m passionate about this!
