Candidates

Aaira Nadeem

I'm standing for this role as a postgraduate student in Energy Systems and Data Analytics, deeply passionate about energy transition. I bring the academic background and enthusiasm to use this position to strengthen the society’s external collaborations and increase our society's exposure in order to create meaningful connections. I'm going to let my credentials speak for themselves:

  • Chemical Engineer (First-Class Honours)
  • Work experience in the hydrogen domain
  • Sustainable Development Ambassador during my undergraduate studies
  • Winner of two competitions for pitching solutions to mitigate climate change
  • Events Officer for my cultural club

These achievements reflect my dedication to sustainability and outreach. I’ve learned to adapt, work with all kinds of people, and turn good ideas into great events. An External Events Officer needs to be organised, outgoing, and a bit of a social butterfly and luckily, that’s me (on a good day ofcourse)!

Tanisha Bajaj

Hi, I'm Tanisha, and I truly believe a great event can bring people together and foster a sense of friendship and community to learn from each other and have a bit of fun!

I'm a first-year Chemical Engineering student, but I know what it takes to take a concept and turn it into a well-run, high-energy event that’s worth your time. Whether it was running interactive electrolysis workshops for museums, coordinating sustainability challenges, or designing renewable energy mini-projects and carbon capture demonstrations, I’ve always loved transforming ideas into experiences that make people connect, collaborate, and leave inspired.

If elected, I will ensure EVERYONE'S suggestions are accounted for and help organise fun quiz nights, more social events and many insightful and fun talks and events.

PS. (Another thing that I think brings ppl together is food, especially sweet treats. If you vote of me, there might be some free cupcakes in it for you👀)

Stefi Naydenova

I want to help grow the Energy Society, ensuring we organise exciting and enriching events for all members, as well as strengthen our collaboration with other student societies and industry partners. As someone who is studying a sustainability-focused degree, I aim to organise talks and workshops with industry leaders, as well as networking and social events that make the topics of renewable energy, net zero and the green transition accessible for all.  My experience as head organiser of FISSION, the largest international science fair in Bulgaria, has prepared me well for these endeavours. For FISSION, I coordinated over 215 participants from 6 countries, led a 22-member team, raised €9188.30, partnered with national ministries and Junior Achievement Bulgaria, and facilitated a jury panel of 15 leading scientists and industry experts, including researchers from Imperial College London and the University of Oxford. This experience gave me leadership, teamwork, communication, and fundraising skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with media outlets and manage large-scale events. Additionally, I have been running my own international educational project for the past 3 years where I lead a 5+ country team to develop educational courses and also collaborated with a national educational Bulgarian NGO. These experiences have equipped me with strong organisational and outreach skills which I’m eager to apply to the initiatives of the Energy Society.

Tim-Louis Wilken

I’m someone who is genuinely curious about technology and gets excited by new ideas, especially when they connect to the energy transition. I’m currently studying for a Master’s in Energy Systems and Data Analytics at UCL, building on my bachelor’s in Management and Technology from TUM. This mix helps me look at problems from both a technical and business angle and connect people with different perspectives.

I really enjoy organising things and creating opportunities for others to meet and exchange ideas. The role of External Events Officer feels like a great fit, as I would love to help the society build stronger links with companies and other universities and make events that are both inspiring and practical.

Aidan Tiede

Hi. My name is Aidan. I am a 2nd year UCL physics student. I am German and Chinese, but was raised in my home country, the Netherlands. This is where I developed my interest in energy; specifically energy production and renewables. From windmills to wind turbines, both are as natural a part of the Dutch land and city scape as are tulips. Learning further about renewable energy production in physics, I have developed a passion around connecting my knowledge with my home.

Why me:
- Conference coordination: Head of Delegate Affairs at MUNISH (Europe’s #2 MUN; 1,500 delegates). Liaised with 20+ schools and colleges, assigned delegations, and led delegate workshops
- Operational experience: Finance administrator on school council; worked with school and governing-body finance teams to budget, track, and reimburse student-led events

What I will deliver:
- Inter-city energy events: 2 London-wide events per term (panels, site visits, or conferences). Open up to broader inter-uni initiatives

- Industry & policy focus: Bring in energy politics—regulation, markets, and tech—via joint events with policy oriented societies and external organisations

- Partnerships: Focusing partnering projects with other UCL or non-UCL societies, and obtaining sponsors

Joel Goswell

I am running for External Events Officer because I want to help deliver a series of events that are expertly curated, accessible, and genuinely provide value to every participant.

During my undergrad I helped organise external events for our Commercial Awareness Society, and I therefore understand all the work that goes into such an undertaking, be it researching and inviting speakers, curating panels, or logistics. This naturally taught me how to juggle tight timetables, liaise professionally with external guests, and turn broad conceptual ideas into polished events.

As an added bonus I am a part-time MSc student with a day job, so it should go without saying that I understand how to manage scheduling constraints really well! I would like to use this experience to design a programme that fits the most people's needs and maximise participation.

I'm organised, approachable, and committed to building lasting partnerships between our society, industry, and other groups. If selected I will do everything in my power to connect our members with the people who matter, through a diverse and engaging events calendar.
