Election post
Hi. My name is Aidan. I am a 2nd year UCL physics student. I am German and Chinese, but was raised in my home country, the Netherlands. This is where I developed my interest in energy; specifically energy production and renewables. From windmills to wind turbines, both are as natural a part of the Dutch land and city scape as are tulips. Learning further about renewable energy production in physics, I have developed a passion around connecting my knowledge with my home.
Why me:
- Conference coordination: Head of Delegate Affairs at MUNISH (Europe’s #2 MUN; 1,500 delegates). Liaised with 20+ schools and colleges, assigned delegations, and led delegate workshops
- Operational experience: Finance administrator on school council; worked with school and governing-body finance teams to budget, track, and reimburse student-led events
What I will deliver:
- Inter-city energy events: 2 London-wide events per term (panels, site visits, or conferences). Open up to broader inter-uni initiatives
- Industry & policy focus: Bring in energy politics—regulation, markets, and tech—via joint events with policy oriented societies and external organisations
- Partnerships: Focusing partnering projects with other UCL or non-UCL societies, and obtaining sponsors
