What draws me to this position is its role at the intersection that truly excites me, between theory and real-world behavioural change. BIS stands out as more than just a society, but a rare opportunity to address critical challenges within and beyond UCL, which is the kind of work I want to lead. I’m highly motivated to turn that potential into action by ensuring projects run smoothly and at a larger scale. I’d like to see them become more frequent and collaborative, working with other universities, organisations, and professionals for wider evidence-based impact.

Having previously led societies and coordinated community projects with local Jamaican NGOs, I’ve learned how to balance structure with innovation, so even small, well-organised interventions can make a tangible difference. I’d like to bring that same energy to BIS, strengthening its applied branch by making it more visible, inclusive, and influential: so that behavioural science feels not just studied but lived across the UCL community.

Christine Chen

Hi, I'm Christine! As a newcomer to UCL,  BIS has been a really welcoming society with projects and events that align with my interests. I am currently studying BSc Psychology and am particularly intrigued by the applied field of the subject and how knowledge can be implemented in our daily lives to improve efficiency, motivating me to run for the position of Applied Projects Officer. Previous experience, such as being the President of the Psychology Society at sixth form, helped build a strong foundation of collaborating with others, a diligent work ethic, and effective communication. If I am offered this opportunity to take on this role, I will be very honoured and excited to work with the amazing committee and learn from like-minded peers. Thank you for taking the time to read through my manifesto, and please remember to make your vote:)

Mu Lan

Hi! I’m Mulan, and I’m in my second year of BSc Psychology and Language Sciences.

I believe the society has real potential to bridge academic ideas with real-world applications, and I’d like to help make that happen through well-organised and purposeful events and collaborations. I’ve gained a range of experience in applied behavioural science, as well as leadership positions within UCL, and I hope to bring that perspective to support BIS’s future projects and initiatives.

My experiences include:
1. Intern, Behavioural Science and Public Health Network UK
2. London Nudgeathon 2025 (organised by UCL BIS)
3. Singapore Psychology Society Psychathon 2025
4. Academic Representative, BSc Psychology and Language Sciences
5. Vice-President, UCL Psychology Society

If elected, I’ll focus on making behavioural science more accessible, whether that’s through academic workshops, networking events, or larger initiatives like the next London Nudgeathon, which I’ve had experience participating in. I’d like BIS to continue being a space where students can explore, connect, and apply behavioural insights in meaningful ways.

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Nyleve Chan

Hi! My name is Nyleve and I would like to be your Applied Projects Director for this year. I am a collaborative and supportive person which allows me to motivate teams while providing clear guidance during research. I am not afraid to step out of my comfort zone, which helps me to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with UCL stakeholders and team members.
As Applied Projects Director, I will actively identify behavioural challenges across UCL to create project briefs that can turn into impactful interventions. I will run a structured application process, reviewing each submissions with a focus on practical thinking and active engagement.
By organising workshops, I aim to connect teams with each other to foster a supportive community, as well as encouraging reflection and feedback. These workshops can also equip teams with practical research and analytical skills to confidence in applying principles in behavioural science to the real-world.
I will also engage closely with UCL stakeholders to build relationships that make our projects easier to implement and more impactful. By keeping communication open and encouraging regular feedback, I will ensure that our projects and intervention stay practical and effective across campus.
I am committed to guiding projects and supporting teams which can lead to insightful changes in UCL as well as bringing organisation, creativity, and collaboration as an Applied Projects Director.
