Club Structure
A Team
UCL Yetis A will return to Checking Division 1 South of BUIHA (British University Ice Hockey Association), after winning Division 2 with a staggering G/D of +80 last season.
Our A team train on Wednesdays at Streatham Ice Rink from 2:15-3:45pm. The cost of this session is included in Term memberships and is suitable if you are anexperienced hockey player who have played at a high level for many years.
B & C Team
UCL Yetis B will compete in Non-Checking Division 3 South of BUIHA, who were just crowned the champions in BUIHA Non-Checking T3 Nationals with a convincing performance this April. Not long after the B team triumph, Yetis C also made their competitive debut in Non-CheckingT4 Nationals and won their first game against Nottingham.
Our B&C team trains on Wednesdays at Streatham between 1:45-3:15 pm, and training costs £5 per session. This is suitable if you are relatively new to ice hockey (B team) or even skating (C team)! The club has a limited number of kits available to borrow free of charge, but it’s strongly recommended you bring/buy your own. You also won’t be able to play matches until you have your own skates.
Social Skates and Club Socials
As a wise person once said, “The Yetis is 30% hockey, 70% socials.” Although actual figures may vary, hanging out with our teammates outside the rink is an integral part of a club member’s life.
Our Social Skates will take place every couple of weeks at Streatham (skate hire is available) and an event will be posted each time to confirm the details!
Hockey players of all teams (and our best friend FrostBite) come together for socials and throughout the year, so be excited!
* Big shoutout to FrostBite, UCL’s one and only figure skating club and the Yetis’ best friends, who may join us in some of the events! If you’re interested in figure skating, search for “UCL FrostBite”.
Varsity:
Our Ice Varsity is one of the most impressive displays of skill combined with a fantastic atmosphere. Battling it out against our bitter rivals - Imperial Devils - is always a memorable evening and allows our best players at the club to show off in front of hundreds of adoring fans.
During the 25/26 Varsity, the mighty Yetis defeated Imperial by 8-3 in front of a sold-out Streatham Ice and Leisure. The crowd was buzzing and the atmosphere was over the roof! This year, with the Yetis will be looking to achieve three-in-a-row, you just have to be there!
