This week, Team UCL joined 4,000 competitors from universities across the UK in the BUCS (British University and College Sport) Nationals in Sheffield, bringing home six medals.

Highlights

It was a Super Sunday in fencing, with elite athletes taking home two medals. Max Cromie achieved Bronze in Men’s Sabre after dominating before falling to the eventual champion. Representing TeamUCL for the first time, Katie Castillo-Bernaus fought her way to a bronze medal in Women's Foil.

Over in Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, Swimming and Karate took centre stage. In the pool amongst some fierce competition, there were strong swims from Swimming Club, with several personal bests!

For Karate Club, it was another year of returning to UCL with medals! Phoebe Jones achieved Bronze in the Senior Women's Kumite after SEVEN years out of the sport. Meanwhile, Sam Taylor picked up a Silver in the Men's Novice Kumite in his maiden BUCS Nationals and Shreevanth Krishnaa Gopalakrishnan rounded off the weekend with a bronze.

On Saturday, Climbing and Mountaineering Club got their competition underway, with 8 members of the club taking part at the Climbing Works. With only 12 climbers qualifying for the final in a field of over 300 competitors, the club was up against strong competition, with the climbing final always one of the highlights of the weekend!

It was a jam packed weekend of action in the England Institute of Sport for Running, Athletics and Cross Country Club. On the track, there was season and personal bests galore for TeamUCL competitors. In the Long Jump final, our Elite Athlete, Hannah Wallace, set a season's best, finishing 4th!
