Welcome to UCL Fencing Club

The UCL Fencing Club is open to everyone, whether you’re trying fencing for the first time, an experienced fencer looking to maintain and develop your skills, or somewhere in between. Our club is all about building a positive, supportive community through sport, helping members feel good, connected, and included.

🎊This year marks 100 years of UCL Fencing! 🎊Founded in 1925, we have a proud history of competition, camaraderie and tradition.  To celebrate this anniversary, we'll be hosting special events throughout the year and a limited edition merch drop, so join us in making this historic year one to remember!

We run a novice training programme on Wednesdays and Thursdays, while competitive fencers can try out for our highly successful BUCS teams and participate in domestic and international tournaments. Experienced members also have opportunities for additional training and advanced coaching, making sure everyone can progress at their own level. The club is inclusive, welcoming all abilities, and committed to creating an accessible and supportive environment for everyone.

Membership & Equipment

We know fencing kit can be expensive, so the club offers access to borrowing kit for training and competitions. We can also guide members to UCL grants and funding to help cover costs if you want to invest in your own equipment.

Socials, Community & Events

Fencing at UCL isn’t just about training – it’s about community. We host inclusive socials throughout the year, including alcohol-free options, movie nights, charity events, and collaborations with other clubs. Everyone is welcome, and we celebrate diversity and wellbeing in all that we do. Our Christmas Dinner and other holiday-themed events are highlights of the year, giving everyone a chance to relax, have fun, and connect.

We also introduce wellness initiatives like yoga sessions and recovery workshops, helping members improve both fitness and wellbeing.

Teams and Competitions

We are proud to be part of  TeamUCL High Performance Program! As part of this program, the First Teams take part in weekly strength and conditioning training to stay at peak performance. Both our Women's and Men's First Teams represent UCL in the Premier League, the very top tier of university fencing, while our Men's Second team competes in Tier 1!

The BUCS season kicks off in October, so don’t forget to try out for the teams! BUCS Individuals in February give you another shot at competition, and our annual Varsity against KCL takes place in March. We also hold friendly competitions throughout the year, both against other universities and within our club.

Taster Memberships
