If you’re staying in London over the holiday break and are looking for ways to fill the time and get into the festive spirit before the term ends, try out one of the Winter Festive Volunteering Opportunities taking place!
If you’re looking for a one-off day of volunteering, why not sign up for Baby Bank Stock Sorting with Little Village on Friday 9th December, as part of the Winter Arts Festival. Join other students to sort and organise donated items, to create beautiful bundles for the families that Little Village supports. Get involved and make a real difference to the lives of young children living in poverty in London as a way to spread some love this festive season! (And if you can’t make it on the 9th, why not take a look at joining Little Village on Tuesday 13th, Friday 16th, or Wednesday 21st December instead!)
If a day of free tea sounds good to you, make sure to take a look at the Community Tea Workshop with Museum of the Home on Friday 9th December. Spend the day with local families serving tea as part of the Museum’s ‘What’s your cup of tea?’ project. This is a fantastic way to get involved with a local community, for a day of family and fun.
We also have plenty of volunteering taking place in December! If you’re looking for a volunteering event that takes up only one afternoon, check out signing up as a Christmas Bucket Collector with Ronald McDonald House. Join other volunteers at Waterloo train station on Monday 5th, Tuesday 13th, or Thursday 15th December, where choirs will be singing festive songs and volunteers are needed to collect donations. Dress up in something festive and head along for an afternoon of music and holiday cheer.
If you're looking to get into more regular volunteering over the holidays, make sure have a look into local opportunities such as a Foodbank Volunteer with LifeafterHummus. This is a fantastic opportunity sorting through donations and preparing 1-2-1 parcels for families - not to mention it is just around the corner from UCL!
A list of volunteering opportunities available over the holiday period can be found on the What’s On? Calendar, and make sure to check out all of our other opportunities on our volunteering directory as well!
