Onto our top picks...

1) Love Your Planet

Kicking off the 28 Days of Sustainability is the Love Your Planet Event, taking place on February 17. The day, brought to you by the UCL Grand Challenge of Climate Crisis, Climate Reality Project, and Climate Cafe, will focus on what businesses, policymakers, academics, and activists in the UK can do to speed up the green transition (plus a stand-up climate comedy feature from UCL’s Dr Matt Winning!).

2) Learn to mend and prolong your clothes

On Wednesday 19 February, The Department of Culture, Communications and Media at the IOE will run a Sustainability Skills Swap Shop on mending and repairing clothes, as part of an ongoing programme that they deliver. The session will support you to learn how to repair your clothes through various patching techniques – you are welcome to bring your own materials, but they will also be supplied.

3) Student Sustainability Forum

The Student Sustainability Forum is taking place on Thursday 27 February, and it’s the perfect opportunity to hear about how to get involved with the new SU Sustainability Council, as well as finding out about the new UCL Sustainability Plan 2024-34.

The event will be facilitated by Goksu Danaci, your Students’ Union President, and Alan, the Students’ Union Sustainability Officer. Book a (free) ticket now to secure your spot!

4) Wasteless Coffee Cookies Cooking Demonstration

On 6 March, join Sustainable UCL at UCL East for a demonstration on how to make delicious zero-waste cookies using leftover fairtrade coffee grounds. The event will include a deep dive into the Fairtrade coffee industry, as well as insights from the head chef on his experience of running a zero-waste refectory and some tips & tricks for you to use at home. The best part? You will have freshly baked cookies to enjoy or take home!

5) Camley Street Natural Park Walk

Join UCL Laws on 12 March for a leisurely guided walk through Camley Street Natural Park - a hidden gem of wild green space in the heart of London. This walk is a perfect chance to connect with other students and staff while enjoying the calming benefits of nature. Whether you're looking to unwind, explore local biodiversity, or simply enjoy a break from the city, this is a perfect chance to do so.
