This year National Student Money Week is focused on Less Risk and More Reward for students. As part of this, we've highlighted the top rewards programmes available for popular sites around campus,

It’s important to note that whilst rewards programmes are great and there are lots of incentives to spend out there, you should think carefully about your finances and how best to spend your money. For help and advice on budgeting, our Money and Budgeting advisors are available throughout the year to support you with your finances, budgeting and debts.

  • The SU Café’s teya app – Our cafes reward loyalty, so download the Teya app and your next coffee will be on us. This is a great way to collect points every time you spend in one of the SU Cafés and trade these for FREE items.
  • Tesco Clubcard – The Tesco Clubcard is one of the most popular supermarket rewards cards that lets you earn Clubcard points on all your purchases in store and online. With a Tesco Clubcard you will also be able to get the best price for items and often help make a huge saving on day-to-day spending like meal deals and groceries.
  • It’s also great to look out for Clubcard Reward Partners as an alternative way to spend your Clubcard points for example eating out at Pizza Express, BrewDog and many other restaurants.
  • Nectar Card – This rewards card is not just for Sainsbury’s. Nectar Card is a popular rewards card that lets you earn points from your purchases for lots of great retailers such eBay, Argos, Vue Cinemas and British Airways.
  • Boots Card - The Boots Advantage Card lets you earn points every time you make a Boots purchase online and in store. For every £1 spent you can earn 3 points, which means this is one of the highest rewarding points cards. When stocking up on toothpaste or shampoo, keep an eye out for Boots Advantage Offers and the savings can add up. It’s also important to know that you can only make use of the Boots 10% student discount if you have an Advantage Card.
  • Nando’s Card – This is one of, if not the most popular restaurant rewards cards on the market. With the Nando's Card, every time you spend £7 or more you earn 'Chillis'. These Chillis then add up and qualify you for different levels of reward. This could be anything from a free Halloumi Starter to a Full Platter.

Rewards cards can be an easy and helpful way to save money and make intentional purchases. It is always important, however, to consider what purchases are appropriate for you and your budget. Budgeting wisely can also mean looking at how your banking may be able to reward you and what accounts are appropriate for you.
