Phineas is a spacious venue named after the mascot of an old tobacconist, which was regularly stolen by UCL students in the 1930s. The kind (and probably harassed) tobacconist decided to present the highlander to the Union and the mascot now resides in the bar.

Phineas, the Union’s mascot

Here, you can study and socialise during the day, or head along in the evening to one of the nightly events.

Phineas is the spiritual home of TeamUCL and host to our legendary Sports Nite. The bar is also hosting the infamous Glittoris series, our monthly LGBT+ club night as well a weekly pub quiz. Phineas is your got to ‘something for everyone’ Union bar.

Pints start from £2.80 and wine from £2.00. Every night brings with it its own event from Jazz Jammin’ with Jazz Society on Tuesdays to the famous pub quiz on Thursdays
