Using the UCL200 Social Impact Fund as a live case study, you’ll explore how large-scale, student-led fundraising campaigns are designed and delivered, and how you can best apply the same principles to any cause, organisation or future career setting.


Fundraising isn’t just about raising money, it’s about leadership, communication, strategy, and creating meaningful, sustainable impact.

What to Expect

During this interactive session, you will:

  • Understand the fundamentals of strategic fundraising
  • Explore the core principles behind successful fundraising campaigns, from defining purpose and identifying stakeholders to setting achievable targets and measuring impact. The UCL200 Social Impact Fund will be used as a practical example to bring these concepts to life.
  • Build essential fundraising and leadership skills
  • Develop practical experience in campaign planning, persuasive communication, budgeting, teamwork, and motivating others. You’ll strengthen your confidence in leading initiatives and managing resources responsibly, skills valued across all sectors.
  • Design creative and inclusive fundraising initiatives
  • Take part in structured idea-generation activities to develop bold, achievable fundraising concepts. You’ll consider accessibility, sustainability, and cultural awareness to ensure your initiatives engage diverse communities.
  • Explore incentives, recognition and scaling impact
  • Examine how competitions, recognition tiers (Bronze, Silver, Gold), and milestone targets can motivate participation and increase reach.
  • Identify funding and support mechanisms
  • Learn how seed funding (such as small grants) can be used strategically to launch and scale fundraising projects, and how to make a strong case for financial support.

There are two entrances, the most accessible being the entrance on Bedford Way.
 

The Bedford Way accessible entrance provides step-free level access to the reception foyer on level 3 between Core A and Core B.
 

The Woburn Square and Thornhaugh Street entrance provides step-free access to level 4 between Core A and Core B via a short slope with a steep gradient..
 

There are push pad activated single automatic doors at both entrances (the alternative being sliding automatic doors).
