Join UCL Fencing Club for a two-hour interactive walking tour exploring African and Caribbean history in the heart of London.

Led by a specialist guide, the walk covers ancient African civilisations, Black female entrepreneurs, the Frederick Douglass connection, Black women abolitionists, and the Black British civil rights and anti-apartheid movements. We’ll also look at the history of food, drink and romance, academia and the “white curriculum”, Black women broadcasters, and the World War 2 heroes who are often left out of the story. Along the way we’ll learn about key figures including Mary Seacole, Walter Rodney and Ivan Van Sertima.

This is a social, educational event. Everyone is welcome. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather, as the walk is outdoors.
