Happy New Year! We invite Dr. Gerard Conway from Brunel University of London to give a talk on the concept of distributive justice. Don't miss!

Since Aristotle, distributive justice has occupied a central yet contested place in Western political philosophy, distinguished from corrective and commutative justice by its focus on the fair allocation of social resources. Although modern taxation and welfare systems suggest a degree of practical consensus on state redistribution, significant variation in redistributive practices reflects deeper and unresolved philosophical disagreements concerning equality, property rights, and the foundations of political authority. In this talk, Dr. Conway surveys the evolution of philosophical justifications for state redistribution, examines their limited articulation in contemporary legal and political practice, considers how these debates extend to the international sphere, and whether the question of redistribution cannot be fully addressed without considering some of the fundamental problems of political philosophy.
