A gentle roll of thunder after Jingzhe,
fine spring rain sifting through plum-scented days.
When the first rumble of spring sounds in the distance,
the earth begins to loosen.
Small lives that have slept through the long winter
slowly awaken beneath the soil.
Jingzhe — the Awakening of Insects —
is one of the most life-filled moments in the solar calendar.
Before the chorus of insects rises, before blossoms fully unfold,
the air carries the scent of damp earth and the sweetness of early spring.
On this day,
we gather slowly, to welcome the season.
🌱 Sip a cup of tea — let the body gently awaken
🍐 Taste snow pear and white fungus — quiet nourishment for spring
🎨 Paint a little insect — observe its antennae, its shell, its subtle sheen
🌸 Feel the quiet arrival of spring
