‘We are net gainers from the Valley and Big Tech. The problem is with the word “net.”’ — Scott Galloway, Professor of Marketing at NYU Stern School of Business

GoSafer.Online hopes to bridge the gap between the community and the knowledge they need for a safe and healthy life online. The young, the old, and people with limited English skills are often not well-informed. Reaching them with effective messages is a big job — in fact, impossible if we try to do it on our own. It’s better to use our expertise to support local organisations already working with those who need help.

What information should we provide? Another big job: we need volunteers to sift through the vastness of the web and find what’s best for a UK audience. They need to use judgment: we don’t want to be a retailer of sensationalist headlines.

Our web site is not just for the most disadvantaged: we aim to serve anyone wanting to inform themselves on technology and its effects. They can be a potential ally, not just to help individuals, but perhaps to help change the whole culture.

Please do get in touch if any of the above sounds interesting.
