Opportunities

Opportunity: Telafriend Volunteer

If you have access to a telephone, enjoy talking and would like to build friendships with older people, then our Telafriend Volunteer role would be ideal for you.

A Telafriend Volunteer has weekly 30 minutes phone chats with one or more older people who are at risk of becoming socially isolated or may feel lonely.

Join our Telafriend Volunteer team today and help to uplift the spirits of older people.

Opportunity: Befriender

The aim of this role is for volunteers to provide friendship to older people who have become isolated and to help motivate them to become socially active again.

Opportunity: Community Events Volunteer

We need volunteers to provide extra support at our own events as well as events that we get invited to attend.

Opportunity: One-To-One IT Trainer

To encourage older people to become more familiar with the use of digital devices, to connect with others and to remain socially active and independent.

Opportunity: Reception and Admin Support Volunteer

At Age UK Westminster we operate a weekly information and advice telephone helpline for our service users and other members of the public which takes place between 10am-2pm, from Monday to Friday. We rely heavily on our trained Reception Volunteers to deliver this vital service.

We would like volunteers to join us for just a minimum of 4 hours per week, to manage our busy telephone helpline, dealing with enquiries, providing information and advice to our service users, signposting callers to other service providers in order to enable them to access the services they require. We would also require your assistance in providing general administrative support to our small staff team.

Opportunity: Activities Facilitator

The aim of the activity programmes is to encourage older people in the community, who may be affected by loneliness, social isolation and changing physical and/or mental health, to connect with others and to remain socially active, healthy, independent and thus build a better life for themselves. We’re really keen for energetic UCL students to help run activities for our beneficiaries.
