Age UK Westminster
Age UK Westminster exists to promote the well-being of older people in the City of Westminster and help make life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience within our local community.

As a Befriending Volunteer, you will provide companionship to a lonely older person in Westminster.

Our Befriending Service matches a local older isolated Westminster resident with a local befriender or someone who either works or studies in the borough. In particular, we are in need of volunteers to befriend in Westminster postcode districts beginning with W2, W10, NW8 and WC2, but we also welcome anyone who wants to befriend anywhere in Westminster.

A Befriending Volunteer provides a valuable service to our organisation by spending their time with an older isolated person, providing opportunities for much needed companionship and social interaction - hence reducing social isolation in the community.

Time commitment

The role require a weekly commitment of between 1 to 2 hours and volunteering can take place any day of the week, including weekends between 10am and 6pm.
What measures have you put in place to ensure volunteers’ safety during COVID-19?
We have Covid safety measures in place for our volunteers and safety guidance will be provided to volunteers prior to commencing their role.

This organisation is one of our community partner organisations.

Like all volunteer recruiters we work with, they have signed up to our service standards, agreeing to abide by our policy on partnership working to keep you safe and supported whilst you volunteer.

You’ll never be out of pocket for volunteering through us – with in-London travel expenses to and from your volunteering guaranteed.

In addition, the team here at Students’ Union UCL Volunteering Service is here to support you throughout your volunteering journey – you can get in touch with us at any time.
