Description

The Gateway to Education for Afghan and Ukrainian Children and Young people provides educational, social integration and mental wellbeing support to children and young people in London. The project is looking to hire a project volunteer for the Afghan component of the project, who will serve as the focal point for facilitating communication and outreach with families, organising learning sessions, coordinating with tutors, arranging outings and other social events. It is a part time role on 1 or 2 day per week basis and the person identified will be working closely with the project coordinator and directly report to the project manager.

Duties

· To identify project beneficiaries in project target areas and facilitate communication with them to encourage them to enrol their children and young people in the project.

· In coordination with the project manager, take full responsibility for organising relevant educational sessions, including identifying and renting venues, providing study materials, and providing on the spot services to tutors.

· To carry out administrative tasks in support of the project team

· To assist the tutors with preparing and implementing their lesson plans

· To assist the project team with data collection including but not limited to wellbeing data, children progress outcome and other relevant data as deemed necessary by the project manager.

· To serve as bridge between families and project team

· To carry out other duties consistent with the nature of the post

Who will the volunteers be working with?
Project team and managers, young people aged 7-12
Training
We will organise a safeguarding training for all new staff plus induction and ongoing support by the project manager.

Time commitment

1-2 days per week (usually weekends)
