Camden Federation of Private Tenants
We work with and support private renters in Camden to organise and campaign for better protection, rights and services. To achieve these aims and objectives we work closely with other local, regional and national groups/organisations, and we also run and manage the Renters' Rights London (RRL) project. 
Description

We need enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our friendly Management Committee to contribute to the development and growth of our small but important housing charity, which gives a voice to the borough's private renters, who now make up over a third of Camden's households.

Given the high number of students who choose to privately rent in the borough, we think it is very important that this group is also represented on the committee

Duties

As a trustee, you'll support and feed into conversations with the rest of the Management Committee, providing the student perspective where required. As the meetings are every 6-weeks, you'll have a broad overseeing function, rather than responsibilities in any specific area.

For context, it is paid staff that are responsible for the following on a day-to-day basis:

  • Directing the overall running of the organisation 
  • Managing staff and their work priorities
  • Managing their own work priorities
  • Some of the responsibilities of the Management Committee are:
  • To direct the overall running of the organisation 
  • Manage staff and their work priorities
  • Ensure that funding/sponsorship is properly managed to comply with the requirements of the funders/sponsors 
  • Ensure that there is enough money to pay for the running of the organisation 
  • Ensure our office premises are well-maintained and safe
  • To make sure that the views and experiences of the different groups who make up our members/supporters are properly represented

Time commitment

Hybrid Management Committee meetings usually take place every 6 weeks (usually on a Tuesday evening starting at 6.30pm).
