Your Role
You will lead the Union’s LGBTQ+ Network alongside the LGBTQ+ Officer in continuing to build an engaging, dynamic and rewarding community of LGBTQ+ students on campus and make sure that the Network caters to and represents all of its members. You will have the opportunity to create and run campaigns on issues affecting Trans students and work alongside existing campaigns and organisations at national level, and will have oversight on the social events and activities organised by the Network. You will work alongside the Equity & Inclusion Officer to represent these collective interests to UCL and beyond.
Your Responsibility
- Develop a community of Trans Students within the Union by spearheading and supporting events and creating opportunities for your peers and co-convening the LGBTQ+ Student Network
- Represent the voice of Trans students in Students’ Union decision making
- Work with the Sabbatical Officers to ensure that issues affecting Trans students are represented effectively in UCL decision making
- Represent the Union at the NUS Trans Students' Conference
- Be an active member of all three Policy Zones and Union Executive
Your Eligibility
Any UCL student who self-defines as trans or non-binary.
Meetings you will attend
- Hold voting rights in all three Policy Zones (Education Zone, Welfare and Community Zone, Activities Zone) - 5 meetings per Zone a year (15 meetings total)
- Union Executive – Seven meetings throughout the year
- Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Committee
Time Required For Role
This is a part-time, unpaid position. You are expected to attend Union Executive meetings, Policy Zone meetings and a range of additional events, approx. 20-25 hours per term. Job shares are welcome.
Welcome and Training
The role is supported by a full programme of training, development and support to help build all of the skills and knowledge required and to support longer term personal development. This includes a two day training session at the end of May/Start of June.
