Here's what I've been up to!

April Report

  • In the past two weeks, I was mostly on annual leave due to the Leadership Race (LR). I am beyond happy and grateful to be re-elected as your Equity and Inclusion Officer for the next academic year! Thank you all for trusting me with your votes.
  • We had a very exciting Women's History Month; special shout out to our Women's Network for organising so many wonderful events from the Menopause Cafe to the Bake Sale in the Student Centre.
  • Also, a big thank you to all of our clubs and societies for running campaigns and events that helped us uplift the voices of our women-identifying students!

How have I communicated with students in the past fortnight?

  • While I was campaigning for the LR, I got to talk to so many students and hear about their concerns and needs in the EDI space.
  • Moving forward, I will be working to better their experiences with all the feedback I have received.
  • I attended the final Varsity game and talked to students while supporting our wonderful Women's and Men's Rugby Teams.

My Priorities

Students are confident in connecting with each other and support one another to feel safe, reassured and inspired.

I attended a student panel with our International Students' and Mature and Part-Time Students' Officers, where we discussed teaching quality, student voice, and community & belonging with a group of academics from UCL Arena. I was given a platform to highlight the importance of SoRAs and how we should be helping our disabled students further with their studies.

Students can be proud and accepted for who they are in a safe community with a high level of cultural understanding.

During Ramadan, we supported ISoc in hosting iftars throughout the month. We received positive feedback from our students and heard wonderful stories about how this initiative helped them bond with their community.

Students have an equitable experience in a united and inclusive community, regardless of where they are based and from.

Before the LR, I worked with the UCL East Operations team regarding how to make the campus more included and lively during the elections. This year, student engagement has increased greatly with the permissions we pushed to get to hang up more posters around throughout the campaign period. East students were more aware of the LR and were more keen to be a part of it. This was made possible with the groundwork we have done with our UCL East and Democracy Teams as well as the support from the UCL East Student Experience Board

Meetings & Outcomes

Union meetings attended and main outcomes

There is no update here due to not attending meetings while on leave for LR.

UCL meetings attended and main outcomes

We have just had our termly sabb team catch-up with the Provost. I can confidently say that we have now more support for SoRAs and issues around R+S from the Provost's Office. They will be following the updates closely and helping us more when needed.

Sabbatical Officer Reports

Our Sabbatical Officers create a report every two weeks to inform our members. They believe that keeping everyone in the loop can foster a lively, supportive atmosphere where students feel encouraged to participate and share their ideas. These updates are a great way for them to share what's been happening, from their current projects to collaborations with different student groups, academic departments, and community organizations.

In each report, you can expect to find insights into the challenges they are tackling, the solutions they are implementing, and the positive impacts these efforts have on student life. From supporting engaging events and workshops to launching new programs that promote well-being and academic success, their initiatives are designed to enhance the overall campus experience.

Voting Record

As democratic leaders, all Sabbatical Officers must maintain transparency in their work. Below is a record of the voting on policies introduced during the academic year 2024-2025 and how Eda has voted. Please note that Sabbatical Officers do not participate in all Zones and, therefore, do not vote on every policy.
