What would you like the Union to do?
From the 2022/23 academic year onwards:
The maximum committee positions a single student can hold at any given time is 10 positions. The number of President positions a single student can hold at any given time is 2. The maximum number of principle officer positions that a student can hold at any given time is 4.
Why would you like to do this?
Right now, there is no limit to the number of committees a student can be in, other than the maximum number of principal positions in a single society is 1. Obviously, it is impossible to dedicate enough time to each society when you are a committee member of that many, and that has led to very poor engagement on side of some committee members, leading to the other members to having to work much harder, thus damaging their mental health.
How will this affect students?
This will ensure that students aren't pressured into taking up more committee positions than they want to, and also that no one takes up positions that they can't commit to.
