Join Us for a Crafternoon with Sapphire
Take a break, get creative and make something meaningful at this special Crafternoon at UCL East.
During the session, you’ll create positive affirmation cards for young people and friendship cards for refugees and asylum seekers supported by Sapphire.
These handmade cards will provide encouragement, positivity and a sense of connection to people who may be experiencing feelings of isolation or facing challenges in their lives.
You don't need to be 'good' at art or have experience in making cards, there will be enough materials and people there to help, you just need a willingness to make something that could brighten someone's day!
No artistic experience is needed. All materials and guidance will be provided, so just bring your creativity and a willingness to make something that could brighten someone’s day.
🎨 What You’ll Be Creating
You’ll have the opportunity to create two types of handmade cards:
- 🌟 Positive affirmation cards encouraging messages and artwork designed to inspire and uplift young people.
- 💌 Friendship cards – thoughtful messages and creative designs for refugees and asylum seekers, helping to create a sense of connection and belonging.
You can use your own ideas, artwork and messages to make each card personal and meaningful.
💚 About Sapphire
Sapphire is a charity that works to support people in the community, including young people, refugees and asylum seekers, with a focus on improving wellbeing, reducing isolation and helping people feel supported and connected.
Their work includes providing opportunities for people to access support, build relationships and take part in activities that promote wellbeing and community connection.
During the Crafternoon, members of the Sapphire team will introduce their organisation, explain how the cards you create will support their beneficiaries and share more about the work they do.
They’ll also be available throughout the session to chat with students and answer questions about their work and volunteering opportunities.
