This is the Tackling Sexual Violence Workshop for Student Reps at UCL! Your community is changed by your intervention, not by your silence. Together, we will change the culture.
This is trauma‑informed workshop that will equip and empower you to navigate autonomous sexual experiences, understand consent beyond the law as a lived practice, and engage critically in understanding sexual violence and rape culture. You will address sexual violence and rape culture as systemic, deeply rooted cultural issues rather than isolated acts, while being supported to recognise your own role in challenging behaviours and attitudes that perpetuate harm, and to work collectively towards cultural change.
This workshop is being delivered specifically to Student Reps and has practical exercises, activities and tools to equip you with the confidence to be a part of changing the culture.
By taking part, you will gain:
- Confidence in recognising and responding to harmful behaviours.
- A deeper understanding of consent as a practice, boundaries and sexual autonomy.
- Tools to challenge attitudes that enable sexual violence.
- Skills to contribute to safer, more accountable social cultures.
- Understanding of specific support services.
- A certificate upon completion.
The workshop will be 2 hours long, and will be facilitated by our Prevention and Intervention Coordinators from the Advice Team at the Students’ Union. This workshop builds on the skills you have learned from the Active Bystander Programme.
Please ensure you have completed your Active Bystander Training before attending this workshop.
