Special shoutout: John Mullan & Greg Dart from the UCL English department will be hosting the event 🙌
Jane Austen adored Christmas with her family but, as a novelist, knew it could spark social disasters - explore its role across all her novels, especially Emma, with John Mullan. Her contemporary, Charles Lamb, was equally fascinated by festivity, sociability, and seasonality - grab a ticket to share Lamb’s meditations on religion, worship, eating, drinking, and being merry with Greg Dart.
🎟️ We’ve got 5 tickets for standard English Society members!
🗓️ Available: Monday 8th December, 6 PM – first come, first served (standard membership required)
📍Where: Keats House, 10 Keats Grove, London NW3 2RR
⏰ Event: Friday 12th December, 6:30–8:30 PM
To get there, it's a 10 minute train journey from Euston - just take the Northern line to Edgware road until Hampstead station. Keep in mind, though, that there is quite a bit of a walk involved, so do check the travel journey in advance to be there on time for the event. If you wish to go together with the committee members, please meet us outside the Student Centre at 5:40 pm!
